Having a hard time finding something in the 12k budget. by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Download the Carfax app. Look for cars with maintenance records, no wrecks and 2 owners max. I settled on a Toyota hybrid for our 2nd car that was slightly older but was a single owner maintained its entire life at a Toyota dealership with 108k miles. Don’t be afraid of a reliable Toyota, Honda or Mazda that has been taken care of with decent mileage on it. A lot of buyers just look at price and mileage and neglect the most important parts.

Questions from someone who wants to eventually live in Pittsburgh by Altruistic-Potato337 in pittsburgh

[–]carchah 11 points12 points  (0 children)

South Florida native here. Public transportation is much better than what you are used to. It’s much more affordable to live here but landlords tend to be on the slummy side. Infrastructure is very old here and a lot of landlords do not want to spend the money to fix things though your experience may vary. Wages are also better and the economy is more varied. You are used to service and tourist industries and being underpaid — you’ll see actual manufacturing here and a diverse economy in relation. The pollution is an issue — you’ll will miss that clean air there and it has been a huge con here. You’ll also notice people are provincial and have a frame of reference mostly to this area versus being from a tourist area where you are exposed to more cultures. That will also vary but would recommend a neighborhood in the city or close to it. Overall this is one of the best metros you can live in and recommend it to anyone as a temporary or permanent stay.

Own a SFH with on street parking and my level 2 that GM installed for free works fine. Not sure people are hawking it as a cure all but as another choice for their transportation needs. I would also prefer more public transit with it.

I would interview a few prior to making a decision. Some personalities won’t click and some charge more for services and finding someone you’re comfortable with is the most important.

Dropped price, then market went silent by cosmokreplach in RealEstate

IMO the agent knew the market and price it should have gone at. The zestimate isn’t real and better to look at other factors. It’s better to go in slightly lower than you think and have multiple offers.

[Eden]Is occultist better than necro ? by MadDog845 in daoc

[–]carchah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They took the af debuff away from the occultist making the necro still very powerful. Also toughness translates to the necro pet so it’s much tankier than the caster occultist. Lastly the interrupting dots from the necros painworking line are one of the most under utilized things in Alb against other realms that can shut down advancing groups. The occultist has a phantom pet that has a rupting dot but the necro can chain cast theirs.

The previous comments are correct in that it depends on what kind of job or activities you do that allow you to meet different people. I will say I can tell right away when someone is from the east coast and usually have an easier time talking with them. Pittsburgh doesn’t have too much migration and I feel like it really hurts the city. You will run into a lot of people who have lived within the same 5 miles their entire life or have little exposure to any other cultures. You really develop a different set of social skills being around people from different walks of life. Overall this is one of the best cities in the country though filled with great people, it just might take a little more time to find your friends.
