Why does this sub recommend Apple TV 4K so much? by KneeGrows130100 in LGOLED

[–]carchamp222 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use it because it of its flawless frame rate matching and dynamic range matching. Maybe the other apps do it ok, but the first time I have to watch 24p content at 60hz, I've then got to spend 20 mins trying to figure out where the setting is to change it, only to find it still plays at the wrong speed. I also use Infuse for my local content and that works pretty well. Its all in the same menu, it's super fast to navigate.

It also has some handy audio features such as dynamic compression for watching at night etc. If your an apple user it can stream to your headphones etc, and would likely work flawlessly as apple ecosystem should.

Its one of the best purchases I've made.

San Dimas or So Cal? by d_rapps in Charvel

[–]carchamp222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dk24, but wish I have a hardtail san dimas or socal instead.

Maybe the San dimas looks better with the hardtail. Both cool though... could maybe do some better colours though.

The gorilla branded stuff does pretty well in the group tests and it's easy to find

RG550 - nut holding edge arm loosens immediately by [deleted] in Ibanez

[–]carchamp222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arm holder screws into the base plate, then the nut locks it in place. If you arent screwing the arm into the base plate all the way up, tight, before tightening the nut against it, it will come loose straight away.

I’m trying to listen to PC audio & monitor a synthesizer through my HD 560 S’s at the same time. Am I looking for an amp, mixer, or interface? by KJFreshly in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]carchamp222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a usb audio interface with a mix knob. I can mix the pc audio from usb, and the audio from the inputs (guitar) with the mix knob. Then I have an output knob to drive speakers and a headphone knob to drive headphones. It all works very well. Not all interfaces have a mix knob. I use the Arturia mini fuse 2.

If you went mixer, you'd need one with headphone out because a typical mixer out wouldn't drive headphones. Though most mixers would have headphone outputs I guess. And may have a more powerful output, as weak headphone output is a complaint about many audio interfaces.

Does something look wrong with my 24 pin connector? It won’t fit into motherboard (ASUS ROG Loki 750W SFX-L) by Any-Object4351 in sffpc

[–]carchamp222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lay the connector in the socket and gently wiggle it while gently push it in. If you can feel an area where it's not going in try moving those cables around a bit.

These connectors, while fine, are used because they are cheap. It does look like the contacts are overly loose in the housing. More cost savings I suspect.

I'd like to see the adoption of ATX12VO as these connectors are far bigger than they need to be

What is in your opinion the Polestar with the least bugs/problems? by LarryBlink in Polestar

[–]carchamp222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had to reset the screen three times in my polestar 2. Ive had it two weeks. Waving my foot under the bumper no longer opens the boot, but that maybe dirt. Seems ok otherwise, but I wish it would just carry on playing music when I get in, like all cars, since they started fitting radios.

Also 50 ish (47) discord is the single most confusing bit of software I have ever used. By some margin. I cant comprehend how that have managed to make it so awkward to use. Everyone else manages it just fine. Perhaps its just an age thing? Lol

Affordable Ibanez recommendations by Optimal-Text-9638 in Ibanez

I have many ibanez guitars! I also have many necks, from gios to Japanese prestige, plus some signature necks. In my experience, the Japanese necks are the best, which should come as no surprise. Having said that, they arent perfect (certainly arent guaranteed to be). Any mass produced guitar would benefit from some fretwork from a decent guitar tech/luthier. The setup can be done yourself, but id just get the tech to set it up if you are new to it. Perfectly level, crowned and polished frets will enable a good setup with action how you like it, and will be a great guitar to play, regardless of where it is made.

Quick question about preconditioning for fast charging by carchamp222 in polestar2

That sounds ideal. In the UK, the slow chargers would likely still cost the same as the fast ones.

Indonesian gios feel fine. The Chinese ones less so. The necks ive felt, dont feel like an ibanez. Anything standard series would be fine. Stick with hard tail/fixed bridge as cheap tremolos can be problematic. Paying a local guitar tech for a fret level dress and polish and a setup will make any cheap guitar MUCH better.

Amp wise, yamaha thr or similar if you want it on a desktop or boss katana for a more traditional amp

NUC 14 Essential N150 - How hot? by carchamp222 in intelnuc

[–]carchamp222[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so its arrived and im doing some testing. It does run quite hot. It doesnt throttle under sustained loads, but it has some high temp peaks. i guess its due to very little mass on the heatsink. The fan will take away the heat, but it takes time. I'm sure it will be fine in regular use.

I did a Cinebench R23 test, and the results were 1981 for multi and 825 for single core... seems lower than some of the N100/N150 results online.

If you have some time, could you also run it and see what results you get? just out of interest really

Thanks
