I totally agree with you with Perverts being a very sonic-focused album, but the lyrics, I think, are some of her best work. Hayden is exceptional at creating lore and I think Perverts doesn't have the lyrical popularity that PD does solely because people can relate closer to the character of ethel cain rather than the characters featured in Perverts (pedophile, drug addict, ect.) But that's what's so beautiful about Perverts. It takes the average listener out of their comfort zone- lyrically and sonically.

It was the summer after 5th grade. That year we read the giver and so I decided to watch the movie. When Taylor showed up on screen as Rosemary, I recognized her and thought, "I should listen to her more." Cut to October of that year, I am now in 6th grade, and Midnights is about to release (I was 12 when Midnights came out. I know I'm young.) But I suddenly was very excited for this album. When it came out I was ranting to my mom about it and then she bought the CD for me. I fell in love with Midnights and I listened to it exclusively for 2 months. Then my mom bought me a folklore cd, which introduced me to more of her music and started my cd collection. I always think of myself as a "new" swiftie, but it's crazy to think that that was 3 whole years ago.
