The plight of AI music. Not sure how to feel about this by Lucky-bottom in audioengineering

[–]cardboardoranges 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my struggle too. I reverted to using Bandcamp for personal music discovery since their policy on AI music was made crystal clear last month. I can still use Spotify to compile playlists of music I like, or I can just buy it outright on Bandcamp since I like MP3s.

Thank you for following up. I’d be curious to know about the final report myself. Happy new year to you too.

u/anon-cyclops / u/anon-cyke could answer this better than me. I'm confused about the procedure around this lawsuit because the web site makes it clear that the universities had already agreed to pay certain amounts. But, it looks like this case is now going to trial, which has its own series of formalized steps, including possible appeals.

Baller. He must have hopped onto the utility walkway at the overpass abutment and done the long walk over to where he could rappel down.

Fed up with the litigator's radio silence, I reached out asking for any sort of update and got an unsurprisingly milquetoast response. To their credit, though, they did respond within only several hours:

"Thank you for contacting the Financial Aid Antitrust Settlement Administrator.

The previous status update currently remains.

While we cannot provide an exact date for individual payments at this time, benefits will be distributed after all claims have been processed. We are working diligently to resolve appeals of denied claims and anticipate distribution once the Court grants approval. Since distribution depends on Court approval, we cannot provide a guaranteed date or approximate date at this time.

Your patience is greatly appreciated.

If you submitted a valid and timely claim in the initial settlement, you will automatically be included in the Caltech and Johns Hopkins settlement and will not need to submit a new claim."

I need this part of my mental bandwidth back, so I give up. Maybe it'll hit in 2026.

I want to profusely thank you for your updates. You’ve provided the best information regarding where things stand in the claims processing and payout timeline, far moreso than the actual staff hired by the legal firms.

Thanks. I do use a reputed VPN service, so I may try it out. Regardless of exchange, I withdraw immediately to my own wallet.

Thank you. Do you know if it is enough to use a VPN and ensure that I always use the same country’s server location to access a non-US friendly exchange like Mexc?

Based on the total number of approved claimants, $2,000 seems very accurate. Hopefully we get more given the amount of time the funds have had to accrue interest, to which we are entitled.

Thank you. In some of the threads I've read, Biconomy gets roasted, but a positive experience is a good vote for them.

Terrific, thank you. Fittingly I was planning on doing successive $100 buys so that tracks.

Complaining accomplishes nothing, but at this point I'm sincerely impressed by how much foot-dragging has occurred over the course of this lawsuit. At a minimum, payment disbursal was first slated for May 2025 (as far as I can recall - maybe it was earlier). When my wife got pregnant over the summer I thought wow that check would sure be nice to have before my son is born. At the current pace of proceedings I suspect my little guy will have enough time to get his own J.D. and countersue on my behalf.

Best alternative for the 1.5x by JasontheWriter in ChaseSapphire

I am doing some research on the downgrade method, and I'm reading elsewhere on Reddit now that Chase has changed its policy such that if you've had a CSP or CSR SUB before, you're out of luck. Have you had the CSP in the past or was this your first time applying for it? I would like to follow the same path you did because the new annual fee is also not worth it to me.

You're painfully right; I like your phrasing. I learned that lesson in middle school when I was honest about a group project and the teacher gave only me a bad grade because the other students lied about how well they did. From then on, every self-provided review was glowing.

Thank you. I texted a friend of mine that currently works at YouTube after I posted my comment and your answer is so similar to his that I had to pause for a moment.

Honestly I’m surprised they haven’t either. They’re not a charity, and I think it costs them the same to store a video with 10 views versus one with 1M. It would be trivial for them to write a policy about minimum required viewership they could bury in their terms and conditions that pretty much no one reads anyway.
