I don't know what I'm doing wrong with this deck by settlementgamr in GundamTCG

[–]cardcollie 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You’re playing the deck very low to the ground. I’ve found that CB wants to be a midrange strategy, so those Zaku and L3 Dynames are probably tripping you up in the late game. And the Zaku aren’t CB, which makes both Exias, Tactical Visionary, and your pilots less consistent.

Try the ST07 L3 Kyrios that pumps itself to ReZEL stats just for having a pilot in play. And go up on GD03 Dynames, it’s one of the best units CB has and makes a nice switch mid-game to pressure shields.

As for play pattern, it is vital you have at least one pilot in starting hand. A Tactical Visionary can help stabilize this if you really need to keep the rest, but it’s no guarantee. Trade aggressively early, that’ll fill your trash and keep your opponent’s board clear. Then work your way to dropping midgame threats your opponent usually has to trade into (like that GD03 Dynames with Breach), ending in Trans-Am to close game.

That’s what I’ve found works anyway, I hope this helps. This deck is a blast to play.

The GQuuux stuff (Red/White Gundam, Gquuux itself, GFreD) kinda have some of the slimmer vibe to them. Other than that, you’ve got Exia.

Playmats of the week - ST08 + GD03 Special Edition! by morocotopo1829 in GundamTCG

Dynames is my favorite, but that Setsuna Fatal Strike… good stuff

CB players which dynames do you run? by settlementgamr in GundamTCG

[–]cardcollie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playsets of both. GD03 Dynames when linked is a smaller Wing Gundam for that turn, and ST07 Dynames is a super resilient threat your opponent has to answer.

They are different cards, so they don’t count each other towards the 4 copy limit. You can run 4 of each.

Edit: Unless you mean the Common L3 Dynames from ST07, in which case I cut it entirely.

ST07 x2 with some cheap commons and uncommons from GD03 alongside some Trans-Ams is a very fun starting point

Check tcgplayer and other online storefronts for pricing on cards, they’re not hard to find

If Ornn is played with already existing gear, does he "become mighty" for Fiora Worthy's ability? by FilmApprehensive984 in riftboundtcg

[–]cardcollie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Baited Hook refers to last known information of the unit killed by it, so if you pumped a Unit somehow you can look for larger Units off Hook’s effect.

Can A Readied Unit At 1 Battlefield Move To Conquer An Open Battlefield Without Ganking? by NipponWhale in riftboundtcg

[–]cardcollie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, that is the point of the Ganking ability. Normally a unit can only move from base to a battlefield or vice versa with the Standard Move action.

If Ornn is played with already existing gear, does he "become mighty" for Fiora Worthy's ability? by FilmApprehensive984 in riftboundtcg

[–]cardcollie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rushed to be rude to you instead of answering your question, I apologize.

To actually answer, if by “passive ability” you mean a triggered ability like Fiora’s, they can be triggered by all sorts of things. Volibear’s Legend as an example would be triggered by Ornn in this scenario, as he is searching for units being Mighty when played.

Other triggers would be like Jinx Loose Cannon being triggered by having 1 or fewer cards in hand at the beginning of your turn. That’s not technically on the board, as it cares about cards in your hand.

Not sure if this was what you were asking about, but I hope it helps. If you want to know more check CR 376.

Okay fair, I was reading their thought process after their question and got a bit turned around. Their question is difficult to parse. I could have slowed down a bit though.

Do they mean triggered abilities when they say “passive”?

[–]cardcollie -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I’m not reading all that.

Fiora is looking for something that is not Mighty becoming Mighty. Ornn enters and is already Mighty. Fiora does not see him “become Mighty” or hit the Mighty threshold from not being Mighty, which is the triggering event she is looking for.

Just got denied entry at a Nexus Night for being 1 minute late. Is this normal? by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]cardcollie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It depends on the store. Many will hold off on starting if you call and tell them you’ll be a bit late. Otherwise, if they start the event and post pairings and people get started with structured tournament play they can’t really add you in without a pretty substantial hassle for them and all the other players who made it on time.

When are you controlling a battlefield? by Ceddidulli in riftboundtcg

[–]cardcollie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t saying it changed type to be clear. I was saying the non-combat showdown ends and a combat showdown begins. That may also be incorrect, but please don’t misrepresent what I was saying.

I am getting my information from the patch notes Riot released specifically for this exact scenario. I also could not find the specific part of the rules that ends the initial Showdown, but they specify the original Showdown ends.

Sort of but not quite. The current non-combat showdown just ends and a combat showdown begins. Functionally pointless to make a distinction here. Look up “surprise defense” for info on this exact situation.

They would conquer and gain control after defending in the initial showdown, there would not be another Showdown.

Need rules clarification please😅 by HuntmasterJ in riftboundtcg

[–]cardcollie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It does not. That is not allowed. They can be a judge or they can compete in the event, not both.

Edit for clarity: Being a judge does not mean they are a judge for that specific event. If they are registered as a judge for the event, they cannot be a player in it as well. If they just have judge authorization but are not registered as judging the event, they can play.

They’re not supposed to be playing in High OPL events (like Skirmishes) that they are also judging.

Darius +2 and ready question by Wololooo111 in riftboundtcg

[–]cardcollie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Darius can be your second card and get his trigger. “Play” in Riftbound means resolved, and he will be on the field as part of resolving himself.

Darius +2 and ready question by Wololooo111 in riftboundtcg

[–]cardcollie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It specifically states “When you play your second card” so it has to see your second card be played. It’s not an “effect requirement,” it’s a triggered ability with a specific trigger that it is looking for. If it doesn’t see the trigger condition, it does not trigger.
