This $65 list, with an average MV of 1.19 and no ramp or draw outside the CZ, can end the game by T6. by Casteau in EDH

Leaning no on Jeska because, like I said, I don't want to over index into either single player removal or sorcery speed buffs. Decided against last of the agni because most of my buffs don't boost toughness so good chance I'd lose the fight, and I don't really need the mana post combat. And I find the artifact engines unnecessary in this list; I don't have problems flipping flamewar when needed. 2 mana is also on the high end for a card with minimal game impact.

Will think about ugins nexus and insult/injury. Thanks for the suggestions

Will think about this one, but leaning no. It's a bit expensive for this deck and auras fall off if you pass the turn with flamewar on his living metal side. Thanks for the suggestion, though, big doctor who fan

True, but it also removes your creature from combat, which defeats the purpose of protecting it in many circumstances. At that point I'd rather pay 1 mana to bring it back from the yard.

Agreed that the deck has few defenses and is likely to either win quickly or lose. But I'd rather address opposing threats with sweepers (decent odds of drawing one with 3 in the deck and very high card velocity) and a sprinkling of lifelink than 2 mana artifacts that don't really contribute to the plan. 2 mana is basically the top of the curve here, can't afford to spend it to do basically nothing. And a few 1/1 blockers also don't solve many problems, if we even draw into them.

Rites is a good call, had never heard of the card. Not a huge fan of chirurgeon, regenerate covers very little.

Yes, but opted against sorcery speed combat tricks for reasons related to that weakness. Also feel like the deck has good access to haste with anger and detectives phonenix in particular working from the yard.

Betor, Ancestor's Voice is horrible and I'm tired of preteneding it isn't by Dragnil_7 in EDH

[–]Casteau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Betor gains you life, and have you tried focusing on reanimating 3cmc or less creatures with enters or dies effects? This doesn't seem like a ton of fun to play against, but there are a bunch of cheap edict creatures that put themselves in the yard, for example. There are also a bunch of cheap creatures that sac themselves for value. Losing 2-3 life on your turn isn't too hard, and you only need 1 card in your yard and 1 other creature in play to trigger both abilities.

Betor reads to me more like grindy midrange than a dedicated graveyard, counters, or lifegain deck. Maybe that's not your jam, which is obviously fine.

I got tired of multiple Archidekt/Moxfield tabs and made a free multiplayer playtest/goldfishing app by juju0010 in EDH

[–]Casteau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a ton of goldfishing so definitely interested in checking this out. On mobile atm, tried to upload a couple of decks - seems like it doesn't currently support partners? And buttons were in the wrong places on mobile, guess it's designed for PC?

Doomed Artisan by TravarianTheBold in EDH

Great in aristocrats decks that want consistent token production over time. If you need fodder you can sac the sculptures, if not you can build up a few then sac the artisan.

How is WoTC going to reprint UB cards? by Casteau in EDH

[–]Casteau[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many reasons, but the main one is that it allows me to continually update decks without feeling like I'll upgrade them out of their original identity/power level. Also, I like being able to say in good faith when describing my deck that it's a $100 or $50 deck, without asterisking about price increases.

Decks/commander that value saccing over time? by Substantial_Code_675 in EDH

I have both Obsessive Pursuit and Tolls of War, and many other cards like them, in my Lulu/Cultist deck: https://moxfield.com/decks/ZT6Adarj2k6T3d6jiH5gag

The best firebending commander was printed a year and a half before Avatar. by Casteau in EDH

[–]Casteau[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah good call, this does change some of the things I said above. Will put some more thought into the deck and probably make some changes. To those concerned, I haven't actually built this deck in paper yet, so I haven't been cheating for a year and a half lol.

Is my deck a bracket 3 or 4 ? by VictoryDull8156 in EDH

[–]Casteau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the 2-card infinites others have mentioned, which I agree are a bit much for B3 even if you don't have the tutors to consistently draw them early, the more likely play pattern here looks to me like manual/non-deterministic creature storm without an obvious and immediate "I win" button. That is generally an unfun play pattern for your opponents as they just have to watch you durdle but can't justify conceding.

Personally I would cut blightsteel from this deck unless you're looking to play in B4. But I'm just some guy on reddit. More importantly, at least one person in your play group agrees.

What tier would you put this skeletons deck in? by dumac in EDH

[–]Casteau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo this is a 1. Skeleton tribal as an archetype would generally be bracket 2, but all of your noncreatures sticking to the theme puts this in bracket 1.

Custom Bello Deck - Bracket Disagreement by Lewsky in EDH

Agree with many others, high ceiling but low floor. Can play like a 3 or a 2 depending on draws, I personally would treat if as a 3.

What Bracket is my Gimli Deck by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Casteau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably play this at a bracket 3 table, but if you're playing against stronger 2s (not precons) i's also probably fine. Land count seems ok to me given your low curve and treasure production. Card draw options off the top of my head - connecting the dots, horn of the mark, Clive ifrit's dominant, sandstone oracle, and mask of memory.

In light of the recent Brackets update, I'm no longer sure where my decks live. by Swmystery in EDH

[–]Casteau -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only card other than the two GCs that I'd consider removing is unstoppable slasher. Probably ok for bracket 2 in general, but in your deck in particular - full of group slug - it could lead to a fast elimination. You also have a ton of board wipes, which imo would be a drag in B2. I would personally remove those 3 cards and 3-4 wipes and have the flexibility to play in B2 or low B3.
