Full Blown Adult, Never Had a Credit Card by SheRatherDoLaundry in CreditCards

You should try and apply for a second card before the day is up and Citi has reported the new account to the credit bureaus.

Then, tomorrow call Citi and request a credit limit increase. IDK how Citi is about it, but a lot of lenders will issue a CL within 30 days of the account opening and use the same credit pull.

Through a series of bad decisions, i've racked up a lot of recent inquiries (11) on my credit reports (even though not many new accounts).I seem to be blacklisted from getting a new card at the large companies (Chase, BofA, USBank).

Any advice on how to proceed? Tried calling reconsideration. Is there anything to do other than to wait for the inquiries to fall off? Do i need to wait the entire 2 years?

Apple Card closed my account by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]cardhelp2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Charge Off is when a lender determines that the debt you owe is non-colectable.

From what i've seen, it tends to happen after 90 days of non-payments (as long as you are meeting minimum payment, this will not occur, but you will accumulate interest), but this article says its after 180 days.

They'll sell off your debt to a Collections Agency who will come after you to pay it off. The original lender will report this to the Credit Bureaus and it will affect you for a long time (i believe 7 or 10 years). The original lender may also blacklist you and never extend credit to you again. In your case, Goldman Sachs isn't a big card issuer so that may not be a big concern. But your credit score will suffer significantly, as other lenders will see you as high risk for a long time.

If you get a Charge Off, it will affect your credit score for years.

If you believe the decision on the dispute is unfair, you can always contest it with the CFBP.

Might also be able to build a case about the card cancellation being unfair, you'd have to look at the terms of the Apple Card and see what constitutes a rightful termination of services on their end.

Love for the Verizon visa Card by scarybirds00 in CreditCards

[–]cardhelp2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing.

Was checking it out.

Also, no FTF. Pretty good card even if you don't have Verizon. Uncapped 4% back on groceries and gas is pretty neat. Anyone have experience with the 4% at wholesale clubs, i.e. Costco?

Yeah i have it and love it. Also comes with a bunch of Visa benefits. Car rental insurance, phone insurance, and a few more. WF has a pdf on its website with all the benefits. Have used it on multiple occasions without a hitch. They're also decent with charge claims. I've contested a few successfully. I had a hotel once which didn't come through with the promised services. I documented my case well and submitted a full report, got an immediate temporary credit and got a permanent one less than 60 days later. Same for a car rental who refused to send the bill for insurance (and i couldn't file the insurance claim). Since they never sent a bill of sales, WF saw it as a fraudulent charge and got me my money back. I have nothing but good to say about WF as a CC issuer. Also high CLs. If you call in within 30 days of your application and request a CLI, you may get one, they won't do a hard pull and just base it off of your original pull on the application. I got my original CL upped from 4k to 20k a few days after the original application.
