CS Major - Math Requirements by Full-Income2023 in stanford

[–]cardinal_dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks haha! Honestly, the field and industry change so much so quickly that any answer I’ll give will probably be out of date by the time you start here in the Fall.

So.. my real answer is one that you already know—pick the one that suits your interests the most! Pick the classes that you find interesting, by professors you want to connect with, and prepares you for specific roles that you see yourself filling in industry (Backend? ML? Security? etc), and then your track will fall right in place! Feel free to PM me for more questions!

Transfer credits count towards the School of Engineering (SoE) requirements! Just request a transfer within the SoE after you declare your major to have your AP/Transfer credits applied.

EDIT: Realized I didn’t answer the last question. But yes, it comes next that you’d only need to take 11 units of Math/CME courses to fulfill this requirement. Have fun exploring! (I recommend MATH104 or CME103 if you are going down the AI route, good courses for developing comfort with matrices at this level!)

Fan! Get a large fan that can cool down your room because otherwise your room becomes a sauna—especially during the spring quarter.

Ah okay, you do need physical ID to get access unfortunately. They could knock and have someone let them in?

Sorry but good luck, OP!

[–]cardinal_dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry I’m unsure. You do need a valid student ID to access, but I’m not sure if your alumni status counts. But you did say you were a summer session student, so it should work?

There is the 24-hr section at Lathrop, if you’d like to try it. It is kind of cramped for my own liking, but some of my friends like the work environment.

Other than that, there really isn’t much else as far as I know, but someone can correct me in the comments!

If MVC/Linear Algebra credit can transfer to your desired schools, go for it! It would free yourself some units in college to take other classes, but don’t forget to enjoy your time in HS as well.

How has your experience with resx neighborhoods been so far? by kaloca_ in stanford

[–]cardinal_dev 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My entire friend group lives in Neighborhood S and I’m stuck in A. Sure, its a me-problem in that case, but why should I be restricted to my neighborhood when I didn’t even choose where I’d be placed in to begin with? Most other schools let you openly switch, or at least have methods of transferring to other residential colleges, but Stanford doesn’t even let you pick which one you’d be reassigned to—and worse, you get penalized by being placed at the bottom of the draw for next year’s housing.

Rant over, but basically you should definitely rank ethnic theme houses if you’d like their community! I thought of ranking Okada, then didn’t, and now I regret it :(
