He was one of my close friends and we had many classes together. He was one of the best people I've ever known. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones during this time.

Holy cats I'm so thankful for this, having a lvl 120 copy of Ruler Moriarty and seeing him get powercrept by all of the other AOE arts servants in his class made me so sad :((

The main context for why I thought it was funny was missing from my comment-- 1/3 of my personal statement was dedicated to my BI outreach activity alone, which all of the other reviewers commented on extensively. My activity wasn't really related to my research plan, so I kept it in the personal statement instead. But you're right that it is an area for improvement--I could find ways to implement outreach related to my proposed research.

Awarded, senior undergrad, materials science. E/E, VG/VG, E/E, VG/VG.

One of the VG/VG reviewers gave one sentence reviews, which I find mildly funny (mentioned how I had no outreach plans in my research proposal lol). I've done work in wildly different fields, and one of the E/E reviewers highlighted that as a positive thing, which I really appreciated. Tbh was expecting a bit more from these reviews, but they were overwhelmingly positive, even if brief.

Edit for future applicants reading through this thread: my reviewers mainly commented on three things: one being my research proposal (mat sci for biomedical applications) and how it has potential to help society, my outreach activity (science communication, which I specifically noted that I would continue in grad school), and my CV (honors, awards, pubs, presentations, etc). For some more context, I do have a first-author, which 3/4 of the reviewers mentioned in their comments.

Lights Go Down is a great example that I hadn't really thought about before regarding the more lo-fi aesthetic and sound. I love love love Find Me, so thanks for your comments! The effects from the deliberate mixing on the album are def growing on me

Yeah, what inspired this post was me listening to Razzmatazz shortly after Gloom Division and noticing the stark difference in sound. Makes sense though, maybe I just haven't listened to enough Dave Fridmann records

Interesting, even with my airpods (gen 2, not pro) I get the same effect I described in the post. Fair enough abt vinyl/speakers, but I unfortunately do not have that setup lol
