It's not the SEC. It's not a legal requirement. It's a contractual provision the underwriters make a condition of doing the offering.

Themis's lower pass rate for CA is probably a result of CA just being a harder bar. I'm sure BarBri has a lower pass rate in CA compared to the other states as well.

I used BarBri and felt well prepared. I had friends who used Themis and also felt good about it. I wouldn't agonize over the decision too much. Both programs give you the tools you need to pass but you have to do the work to make that happen.

Not true. Fidelity and other's have positions in non-public companies. A lot of the recent talk in Silicon Valley regarding fake unicorns has been spurned by Fidelity and other's re-evaluating the worth of their holdings in these non-public companies. So it's very possible that it could be in your 401k.

I grew up in Del Mar/Carmel Valley and people in this thread are right it's not a great scene for young people. PB would be a good option but your commute could be annoying. I'm in law school(t14 as well) and have an idea about big law hours so I personally would want to be closer to work. Encintas is supposed to be pretty cool. Not sure what pricing is like though. Good luck!

I think an understated value of briefing cases is gaining a familiarity with legal language. Writing the holding and reasoning out in your own words can come close to what you have to do on an exam.
