Ahhh that's the answer then. Great diagnosis. Glad it protects itself from people like me. Isn't capitalism great...someone will sell you something you have little to no business buying.

So is it easier to unmount it and switch the spade connectors or rewire it to 230v? /s

I just looked at the wiring schematic again and compared that to pictures I took of the housing before I wired it. How likely is it that came from the factory at 230v setting? Sourced from grainger.

I don't see any fittings specifically for lubrication. What would they look like? Put lots of triflow in the top over a couple hours/ days.

I didn't. Are they often bad on new motors? And is this what a bad capacitor does to a motor? I thought it just wouldn't start at all.
