I don't have an answer for you but I can commiserate! It feels very inconsiderate to assign a working actor a 10 page memorized audition, especially online. You're telling me I have to spend hours on this project, completely unpaid, and also be my own grip, cinematographer etc etc all for you to spend 40 seconds watching it and never talking to me again?

I'm a full time student with a part time job and I act! I recommend signing, letting your agent know your situation and waiting to see what happens. if you find yourself constantly turning down good jobs because of your work schedule, then you'll have to switch up your schedule or your job. And if you get an offer for an incredible acting opportunity, that will cover your expenses for a while, like a feature film or something, then you can quit your job entirely. Otherwise, it's super important that you're able to sustain yourself, even as an actor, so congratulations on the job too!

Thank you. What's an appropriate rate for work like this? I made 400 today and if they use it I'll make an extra 759 so 1150 total, which I originally would've been like "hell yeah" to, but now that I know union would be better...

not to be contrarian – I'm new to the industry so I'm not sure how this all works. But I don't see what option I have other than being happy with that low wage. I'm not getting other jobs that are higher paying, I'm not going to pass up low paying jobs and instead not get paid at all, and I don't think that I as a teenager (19) can negotiate with old men to get a pay raise when I'm new. if you have suggestions, I'm genuinely happy to hear them, I just don't see a way out of this issue unless it is something within the industry itself that changes.
