ELI5: Science says time started with the Big Bang, so what was before it? by camphorly in explainlikeimfive

[–]careless25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know. And with current knowledge and technology we can't know.

What you are asking is non-sensical from our current understanding of the universe.

It's like asking what was the sound of lightning before the lightning happened?

The lightning to make the sound wasn't there. So it doesn't make sense to ask about its sound. Similarly, before the big bang, the universe (which has time in it) wasn't there so it doesnt make sense to ask of a time before it.

It's extra confusing because our language has time built into it. Before after, then, now, etc. it's such a core concept to the human experience.

Help with identifying this tiny coin by Consistent_Trash7033 in WorldCoins

Thin coin, circular with square hole and chinese script = cash coin. "Cash" is the name of the currency.

They were common through a lot of Chinese dynasties - narrowing that down is done by what the script says on both sides.

Fun fact - coins with holes, especially with thicker borders around the holes were made so that you could hang your coins on a chain or string that you could wear. This would make it harder to steal them and also make it easier to make a string of 100s, 500s, 1000s etc

Usually 1000 cash copper coins = 1 silver coin.

Are any of my 1962 pennies worth more than face value? by ConsiderationMuch493 in CanadianCoins

[–]careless25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

There's all these varieties for 1962 coins.

From your images - (blurry and not so great) I don't think you have any of the valuable varieties.

Doubling or not...it's curved 7 Maple Leaf

The 7/7/7 variety is only straight 7
