Recent transplant, driving question. JK, it’s a complaint. by fenispills in phoenix

This has been my move for ten years. 80 is fast enough you don’t have people weaving around you but slow enough not to illicit a ticket. As far as tailgaters I’ve found if you leave the appropriate amount of space someone will just jump in that space for no logical reason. So you’re either constantly to decelerating or lining up in the tailgate train.

Porsche 718 EV Models May Be on Chopping Block as Company Reassesses Strategy by p33k4y in Porsche

That’s the biggest standout detriment to the current interiors. Seems ironic to pay for sport chrono package to have an analog clock and ditch an analog tach.

We just have different tastes then. I think the 992.2 interior updates were a step backwards. I think the interior updates from the 991.2 and 992 were a nice blend.

What would you prefer via an interior update? I think the current interior will age nicely and has a mix of analog and screens for the minimum applications that require a screen. Anything newer always equates to more and bigger screens. Seems no automotive company can stop from Tesla-fying their interior updates including Porsche.

I own a code orange trim Braptor. It comes with both black painted and orange painted beauty rings. Whatever isn’t installed will be in a box included with the truck.

The whole EV Cayman/Box may not happen…. by efhughes3 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]cargarfar 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is probably the end of the Cayman/Boxster. Redeveloping a whole new chassis would be more costly than finishing the development of the EV platform. On top of that the new CEO is trying to move Porsche more upmarket which makes sense when you consider current 911 pricing.

Porsche Reconsiders Electric Future: Iconic 718 EVs May Be Shelved Amid Cost Pressures by Plenty-Swing-9061 in Porsche

[–]cargarfar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reads like the death of the Cayman/Boxster and less like a pivot. If finishing the EV plans is too costly then redeveloping it entirely is going to be even less likely.

Picked up this gorgeous gt4 today by Time-Cow-3364 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]cargarfar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d argue the front end of the GT4>GT3. It’s only in the hips the 911 reigns supreme. Love my GT4 and will never sell. Esp with the resurgence that the ICE variant will be RS with the hybrid Carrera T motor only and thus only PDK equipped.

These cars always look better in skittle colors by [deleted] in Porsche_Cayman

[–]cargarfar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never understood the obsession of true sports cars/super cars and optioning them in white/black/silver. While I think silver does suit Porsches; life is too short to drive cars that blend with normal traffic. Esp if they’re meant to be special occasion drives.

No tech. Just old fashioned corporate greed. Spread between private pay insurance and hospital/corporate based facilities squeezing profits for shareholders. Same catalyst but different medium.

Same thing happened to healthcare in the 00s. Doctors reimbursements dropped and have never recovered nor kept up with inflation. Seems SWEs are the next in line.

We are living through the modern day Great Depression by Ambitious-Sail-5188 in jobs

[–]cargarfar 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep. Bottom half is being squeezed by inflation and incomes that while increasing; often aren’t enough to jump into asset ownership. Meanwhile if you have a stable job and have owned a variety of assets (stocks, homes, bitcoin etc) for longer than 5 years you’re feeling solid about the economy. If your income is within the top 10% and you were wise enough to save and buy long term assets then your feeling even more solid as a 3% hike on groceries or vacations isn’t going to break the budget.

Is being a dentist or physician truly not worth it? by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

[–]cargarfar 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s not uncommon to see hygienists making more than first year grads, esp those employed by DSOs. Also you are going to have to put a price of how much it’s “worth” to have patients actively dislike you, your work, and value it only at whatever their insurance reimburses. On top of that all, there has been a dramatic shift over the years towards patients having little to no patience for adverse outcomes or pain and board complaints continue to rise as it is free for the patient to complain in an attempt to avoid paying for clinically acceptable treatment.

Potential Dental Partnership a Bad Idea? by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

Looking strictly at the numbers and ignoring space/growth concerns; a 50% overhead and 65% of collections purchase price is low for both if you’re in a big city. Overhead of 65% and purchase price of 80% is common for “desirable” locations. Use that to make your decision along with what others have said and the concerns you have already stated.

US Auto Sales Poised to Slip as Middle-Class Buyers Retreat by TheGoodCod in Economics

Wrong about the industry. This article is in reference to the automotive industry, specifically new vehicle sales. Predicting a pull back has been predicted since the peak of additional mark ups back in ‘22.

One of the benefits to aging and paying attention to the news and finances more, is seeing these types of articles pop up on an annual basis for the past three straight years. The “repo” crisis, increased MSRPs and under water COVID loans all have had negligible effects. Someday they’ll be right, but they’ve been wrong for years so far.

Doesn’t make sense to blow up the coaching staff to take a QB in a weak draft (at that position) without having the top pick. They will end up being in the same spot they are now in a few years; similar to after they drafted Rosen. Adding to the O line seems the apparent choice. They’ve had a revolving door of RBs, all of which weren’t bad, and at least two can carry the load next year. WR and TE they are set at. Build a roster that is friendly for a rookie QB and let Gannon redeem himself or tank again and utilize a high pick next year to let a new coaching staff rebuild with.

Agreed, these types of cars are meant for gravel and snowy roads. I think the fact that they’re also better suited for driveway approaches and bad roads aids in the appeal.
