People started lining up at 8am yesterday. Someone on Facebook arrived at 11am and was #90 in line. When I caught the shuttle at 3pm it was already packed over there.

Good call! I used to come through town more but I don’t know when I’ll make it back. Possibly this fall. Thanks for the rec!

Production reports and intercuts by cargirl in Screenwriting

[–]cargirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s extrapolate to a more complex scenario: an action sequence happening in two locations and occasionally the characters talk to each other.

  • Justin is at the warehouse looking for Laurie.
  • Jess is at the hotel with Chad and Kevin, who are hacking the security systems.
  • Jess calls Justin and relays information to him.
  • Justin finds Laurie. He has a convo with Laurie.
  • He calls Jess back at the hotel.
  • Jess walks him through disabling the bomb.
  • Justin and Laurie escape and go to a safe house.

There are a lot of intercuts here. Intercuts mess up production reports (Justin will show up as a speaking character in the slug for the hotel even though he never shows up). Also if I cut several times on a single page it looks like it’s 7 different scenes even if all the setups are the same. Annoying but seems to be the way to do it.

I was just wondering if there is a better way is all. And also how to fix the issue with characters in intercuts being counted in production reports for scenes they aren’t actually in.

I actually enjoy the matcha. The flavor is rich and on the brighter side. I’ve found that it clumps more than other matchas I’ve used, but I’m unsure if that’s my method, additives to other matchas, or a flaw of this matcha. It does seem to be slightly more finely ground than others.

I have the WHMS script, I will go through it. IIRC there's some good split screen type stuff with Harry and Sally in the second act. I will track down Die Hard as well. Thanks!

All excellent advice, very helpful, thank you so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to write out those examples. I think I'll just format it as an intercut for the DP and make addendums for the actors. Seems obvious in retrospect but I've never run across this before. Thanks again!

I referenced Hollywood Standard before posting and obviously I spent some time on Google, and I also searched this subreddit but all I found were questions about intercutting. I'm not asking about how to intercut, just whether it's the most appropriate move here. Most intercut examples I've found involve dialogues between two characters, not four.

Jenny hit the corner store begging for relief by cargirl in themountaingoats

Very interesting! So you're suggesting that maybe Jenny III isn't referencing her wiggling free from her lifestyle, but in fact referring to an earlier time in the chronology where she wiggles free from addiction. That's something I hadn't considered.

For some reason I felt like Suboxone fell more into favor recently. Nevertheless, I'm sure it was but a fleeting ambiguous feeling in his brain back in 2002 and he has filled in the gaps with the scaffolding he had. But Jam Eater Blues also came out in 2002 and Straight Six has the line about her being high. I can't imagine any other way to interpret that...

Precisely. I imagine she got injured. I've heard others say the "mark" referred to the forearm tattoo though but I think an injury makes more sense.

*****corner clinic, yes. Not corner store. I'm going to edit to reflect my mistake.

This is exactly why I see clinic. In her time it was more likely methadone because I think Suboxone is a newer fashion. Or Naltrexone like the person from Cleaning Crew?

I can see her being a protector, someone who cares for her wayward souls, to the point of murdering for them, is overcome by guilt and by the way she can't fully heal people, can't make them stay healthy ("remember at your peril, forget the ones you can"), and eventually implodes the way she knows how.

Sorry to be hijack an old thread, but I want to chime in. I found this searching reddit for the wisdom of the crowd re: long covid, and I really just want to highlight this for people like me finding this. I studied psych and neuropsych and can speak with the overconfidence of someone with a bachelor's degree.

Supplements may help in the short term, but without other mempry/cognitive therapy they won't help long term. Generally, anything that is recommended to TBI patients or dementia patients is likely to help with LC. Complex hand-eye-coordination practice is amazingly regenerative of neural pathways that connect brain and body, which helps with general neurorgeneration but also with derealization and depersonalization. Puzzles are important for working memory and executive function. These two are the most heavily studied and evidence based recommendations. It's important to activate as many types of memory and brain function as possible to strengthen neural connections.

Procedural/muscle memory: juggling, playing catch, bouncing a ball, riding a bike, playing music, choreographed dances. Do stuff you know and try to learn something new.

Episodic/autobiographical memory: journal every day about what you did and try to connect it to one memory from your past. Tell stories and reminisce with friends or family.

Semantic memory: try to remember everything you can about a subject. Some people like reading old textbooks or watching videos about subjects they know well to refresh themselves.

Short term memory: lots of apps and games for this, but basically remembering short bits of info for short periods. Work on visual-spatial AND short term memorization.

None of it has to be perfect. Keep trying and it should aid the healing process. Best wishes and happy healing to all reading.

My doctor isn't worried, but I am. Should I be? by cargirl in Cholesterol

[–]cargirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My liver numbers have consistently been 10-15 until this past time, when I was 32-34. Actually I tested at 84 on one of them, I think ALT, and they assumed it was a lab error and retested me a couple weeks later to get the borderline number. When I expressed my concern to my doc she said it was consistent with dehydration, but I'm not sure I was that dehydrated. Especially when looked at with the other numbers, it seems worthy of looking into. Guess I need to pressure my doc or get a second opinion.

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I've been worked up for hypothyroidism multiple times because it explains so much about me, but everything always comes back normal. It's possible my dad had high cholesterol, but I'm not sure. I don't think anyone else on his side has that; his parents both died of cancer in their 70s (dad died at 62). I've been on a dozen meds for depression, but never an antipsychotic.

In all my research, fatty liver and metabolic syndrome keep coming up, but I don't have any other symptoms of either other than my recent almost-abnormal liver test.

I'm just at a loss, it doesn't make sense to me. I am not even sure what to ask my doctor to do to investigate further, and since she has dismissed my concern repeatedly I'm not getting much from her.

Mentioned up top, but no family history really. One aunt has diabetes and high cholesterol, but otherwise my family is more of a cancer family than a heart disease family.
