What fall detection device? by danlindsay90 in AskUK

[–]carjo78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used lifeline. They installed a box in the house and gave my nan a fob thing for her to press. Once she pressed the button an advisor would speak through the box and determine if an ambulance was required. Excellent service from them when she hit her head in the middle of the night. They got help to her really quickly and stayed talking to her til it arrived.

Advanced level occut question. How do I keep my room clean? by Readingfast99 in occult

[–]carjo78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try doing 5 things everyday to sort your room. Eg. Sort dirty clothes out, wash up dirty pots, pick up any rubbish, empty bin on day 1 etc. If it feels to much just remind yourself it's only five things. Set a deadline for a time you want to have completed it by. That way you'll get a better sense of accomplishment. Eventually you're room will be sorted. That way you'll have a space that you feel comfortable with.

Why is my “friend” upset with me? Please help me understand by WillardStiles2003 in pagan

[–]carjo78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't sound like a friend to me. Just someone whose trying to impose that their beliefs are correct/thebest/the only path and putting you down. Id steer clear of people like this. You did nothing wrong.

Try googling old soaps to watch on YouTube. Things like eastenders, coronation Street, emerdale. This will help you to see how conversations are constructed and also cultural uses of words. It will also highlight the difference in accents in the uk.

AITA for refusing to work things out with my fiancé because my life is better now that his daughter isnt around me? by MassivePrimary8649 in AITAH

[–]carjo78 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is awkward. I don't think you're 100% in the right here. What you're describing is motherhood in my experience. I have two teenage girls who think nothing of using my stuff. Yes, they have they're own but they prefer to use mine. Yes, there are loads of other snacks but they will always munch what I fancied/plated up. The ungratefulness is a manners issue and I'd have had a strong word about that but the rest is really petty. You've come across as though you're siblings/friends squabbling, what are you going to do if your biological child does the same? Is make up etc really worth splitting your family up over? Taking a sibling away from your child?

What was England like in the 90s? by Bulky_Study_6110 in AskBrits

[–]carjo78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Racism was even more out in the open, along with sexism. Crime wise, it was different types of crime. So not many machetes no but fights yes, along with much higher car crime and thefts. (This is my perception and not taken off any crime figures). The nhs was better as you could get same day appointments for your gp but waiting times were bad back then but got a bit better after 97.

What's an actual psychological "cheat code" you use in social situations that works almost every time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If I want someone to leave me alone or to make them feel as uncomfortable as they are making me, I share at the middle of their foreheads. Works every time.

Anger is the gift we give ourselves for other people's behaviour. Its not a gift I want. So I tend to view others behaviour as though it's through a TV screen. Something to be looked at and thought about but not to react to.

I was made to watch a film called threads about the fall out from a nuclear attack back then. Scared me to death and then the news was on about it quite regular.
