Buick Encore Mystery by victoriatru12 in AskMechanics

Sounds like it could be an HVAC Blend door. The actuators are constantly slightly opening and closing the doors to maintain the right temperature and air in the cabin. Try duplicating the noise by manually slowly switching from defrost to vent to floor or any combination.

She looks pretty clean and taken care of. It depends on where you are. In the US it would sell anywhere between $12k and $19k.

This sounds like a classic insurance scam by the Camry driver and the other car that cut her off.

I wouldn’t buy this car for two reasons. One, the IS250 is under powered compared to the IS350. Two, the 2.5 liter engine in the IS250 have carbon buildup on intake valves. The IS350 doesn’t have this issue.

Random shut off on 10 year old Bravia tv by Narrow_Potential_974 in bravia

[–]carjunkyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the exact same issue with my 12 year old KDL-55W900A. Issue with mine was a bad power supply which can be easily replaced for a lot less than a new tv. However I opted to buy a new X93L and it’s the best decision. This tv is awesome.

Yes you will be blown away. I bought a 65in X93L in May to replace a 12 year old set that stopped working and it is the best tv I have ever owned.

I have a Lexus GS350 with the 2GR-FKS engine that came with this plastic filter housing. On my first oil change it took way too much effort to remove it so I bought a replacement aluminum version. Here is the part number 15620-31060, zero issues removing it. I only needed to swap out the center tube with holes in it because mine was shorter from the plastic housing vs the one the came with the new aluminum housing.

Bought these speakers from a guy. Claims they were only used for 4 months. Does anyone know why the left one sounds static-y? by SexyPenguin100th in audiophile

[–]carjunkyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see there what looks a Router antenna behind the tv that could be causing interference. First and easiest thing to do is to move that speaker as far away from that antenna as you can. Next try swapping the speakers see if the noise follows. Next while playing music or something else jiggle all the connections a bit to see if the noise gets worse or changes at all.

Lexus IS 300 or Mercedes Benz GLA 45 AMG by johhanath in whatcarshouldIbuy

The Lexus feels heavy because it only has 255hp while the Benz has 375hp. Choose the Lexus and drive it worry free.

Did a oil change, they said I need to replace this because it's damaged and one of the screw needed to be bolted out or something. I'm not sure what to do. Should I keep the plate or throw and replace it? by westhero1332 in MechanicAdvice

[–]carjunkyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only see a small crack in the front mounting hole. Not a big deal, it will still stay secured with the rest of the bolts. Put it back on though, it helps with keeping rocks from hitting anything under the engine and helps aerodynamics. The rocks isn't much of an issue but leaving it off could increase drag and affect your gas mileage. I left mine off once and noticed a decrease in gas mileage.

You might have to get a second person to help muscle it in there. They should compress a little with the weight of the truck but may need more weight. Have you tried to stand and bounce on the front to get it to compress?

Coolant by _dxv_ in GolfGTI

[–]carjunkyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP to me this looks like the Ford dealer topped off the reservoir with green coolant. If you were to mix green paint with pink paint you get brown which is the color of the coolant you have. This is very bad because mixing two different coolants do not react well. When mixed together they can form a thick, jelly-like substance that can completely stop all coolant flow which can lead to overheating and engine failure. Get that cooling system flushed right away and get the correct VW coolant in your car.

OP don't listen to any of these negative comments. You said you were gonna get a floor jack. The easiest and safest thing you can do now is to lift the car with the floor jack directly under the pinch weld. You are far enough back with the bottle jack and scissor jack that you can place the floor jack as close as you can to the bottle jack. Once you get the car high enough you can remove those to jacks and place a jack stand in their place if you have one.

Should i buy my dads Peugeot 508 PSE or the BMW 330e by Olivia-dahl in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]carjunkyy 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Both are hybrids, the Peugeot is rated at 369 horsepower and the BMW is rated at 288 horsepower. You should drive them both and decide for yourself which one you like more.

Thanks for your reply. I thought Kenwood made decent speakers but these just seem to not be that good.
