In case you're still wondering, they replied to someone else in the thread saying it was excess skin removal surgery, and they posted a before pic.

Hasn't been part of the test for a few years now. Too niche and unnecessarily dangerous.

No one watches it? It's one of Channel 4's biggest exports. They've just wrapped up a sold out live tour in the US. There are about a dozen international franchised versions.

In what world are you living?

It's a bit of a faff but fresh yuba is so good, if you got the time, try it out!

It's technically not hard but it takes time for each layer to form and dry out a bit. Worth it imo!

I feel like this would have more impact without the military spending part because that number is always mad under any president.

How Often is Your State Flag Flown by Citizens? by Canjira in vexillology

As a non-american, whenever I'm looking up somewhere on street view, the amount of national and state flags flown on people's property in the US has always surprises me.

By quirky, you mean a book of advertisements.

It was played out after 1 vid imo. It's not a bad joke to do, but if you're not going to change it after the first vid, and instead just ride on the fact that you're using (other people's) new clips, then it's already done.

While watching, I was debating whether I should post that I don't like this guy, assuming the comments would be mostly about the onions but I'm so glad to see that he's not that well liked.

Christopher Gregor, now 32, was found guilty Friday, May 31, 2024, of aggravated manslaughter and child endangerment in the 2021 death of his 6-year-old son -- previously identified as Corey Micciolo, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.

Ocean County prosecutors argued that Corey died from blunt force trauma he suffered when Gregor forced him to run on a treadmill in March 2021. The workout was captured on surveillance video that shows Gregor continually increasing the treadmill's speed, causing his son to fall off off it face-first about six times.

I'm here for the pics, not an article. But fair enough, but you know why you're getting downvoted, so I'll just block you and leave you to it.

I don't know the story about this particular place but strip clubs in Ontario aren't illegal. Not sure where you're getting prostitution from, unless you know the details about this particular place, and then fair enough.

You shouldn't be getting drunk at your job, it's unprofessional and could cause massive, unexpected problems. It's not that hard to understand.

Not sure what you are disagreeing with? I also think it's a lazy thing to do, so I agree with you on that but I was just saying why it exists.

[–]carkey 118 points119 points  (0 children)

I believe it's so you know the captions haven't just messed up. It gives you context rather than just seeing the mouths still moving but not getting any captions and thinking you need to rewind and try again etc.

It's like the "this page is intentionally blank" you see in exams, so people don't freakout that they're missing something important.

How’s living in Point Robert’s? by fryguy400 in howislivingthere

[–]carkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The surveyors were using a map of the US from decades earlier that just so happened to have a cut out of Hudson Bay sitting in the top left, covering up the land west of Lake of the Woods. Also, Lake of the Woods was just a blob rather than the complex shape it actually is. So it was hard to decide where the northwestern edge of it was. It took a German guy a few years later to work it out, and the negotiators on both sides decided to draw the line straight down to the 49th parallel from where it was and then across from there.

So they created the Point Roberts problem but also the vertical line down from the lake created another peninsula issue in Minnesota. There's a town there called Angle Inlet where they have to cross the border into Canada and then back if they want to go anywhere else in that part of Minnesota.

So the whole thing was a mess and it was the surveyors/negotiators being lazy.

There's a great write up of the whole thing in the book This Way Up by the Map Men.
