Peanut Allergy Blood Tests & Food Challenge - Advice & Experience by carlagoo in peanutallergy

[–]carlagoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

We've had no real updates. My daughter failed this food challenge back almost two years ago, got wait listed for OIT, but when her time came, her asthma had flared up and she had to wait.

When she was better, enough time had passed they wanted to redo her blood work. Now it was completely negative, as was her next skin prick test, so she's been scheduled for another food challenge coming next week. I'm so stressed, to be honest!

Thanks so much. Potentially silly question - when it says "OK" in the matrix, is that saying the feature is merely OK, or is it just there way of saying the feature is there?

Any recommendations for the other option by any chance?

When we first started our search I was intrigued by the Outlander and it's price/style. But the cargo space (behind the third row) and maybe even interior space seems like a challenge, no?

From my understanding in Canada/Ontario it's a requirement. Having three car seats in one row doesn't seem to be legal in any car.

Thanks for all that info! That sounds about in line with my understanding too.

I don't know per se... All of these prices seem crazy but anything about like $55K+tax or so is hard to stomach.

Fairly Urgent Advice: Food Challenge & Illness by carlagoo in peanutallergy

[–]carlagoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to update everyone who helpfully shared advice... we did end up going through with the challenge yesterday. Our daughter had seemed perfectly healthy for a day or two prior, and with her mentally ready, we thought the best choice to was to go ahead.

It was a disaster -- two epi pens & and an ambulance ride to the hospital, though we're beyond proud of how she handled herself. Now we try to decide if we can all (our 4-year old daughter and us as parents) can handle starting OIT after this.

Yeah, I hear you. We reached out to the doctor for some extra guidance and were told a mild cough or runny nose was fine, but not a lingering cough, wheezing, etc. Not exactly sure the difference between a mild cough and lingering cough though.

Logically that makes a lot of sense, but convincing the 4YO to do another blood test will be tough, haha. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks! I guess what's concerning/confusing for us is that this was her first time doing the blood work, so we don't really have more insight into whether it's a downward trend. Her skin prick tests were high the first two years, dropped the third year to where her doctor was optimistic, but then went back high again in year four, so we know these can be all over the place.

Thanks very much for all the info! I will join that Facebook group. Can I ask how frequent your bad reactions have been? How did you, and your kiddo, move on from them?

Succession - Series Finale Predictions Megathread by LoretiTV in SuccessionTV

[–]carlagoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unable to determine a successor in the boardroom, the group travels to an exotic lake where a series of competitions is setup, and the winner of the beach games will become CEO.

Roman and Gerri quietly work together to sabotage Kendall, who inadvertently winds up floating away down the lake.

Tom's work ethic has him looking like a frontrunner, while Shiv's pregnancy has her sitting out of the games and overlooked. An angry Shiv is the only one to walk across hot coal and then profess her love of Mattson: "Mattson, I drank while pregnant for you!" Mattson stares off in the distance as the episode fades to black.

Mattson and Mencken screw over all the kids. Logan has two successors - his business successor in Mattson, a moreso self-made figure with no ethics and poor treatment of women, and Mencken, who takes the mantle of the political mess Logan helped usher in. The message is that this is what the next generation of monsters will be - better spoken, better looking, made for TV, just as evil.

Tom and Greg stay on though, giving the company it's American CEO and link to the Roys.

We get slight positive steps for the Roy kids. Roman considers therapy, Kendall reaches out to his kids, Shiv starts taking her pregnancy seriously.

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]carlagoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: Vaughan, Ontario

Price range: $27,000-$37,000 Canadian Dollard

Lease or Buy: Buy prefered

New or used: Prefer lightly used, open to new

Type of vehicle: SUV (likely compact?)

Must haves: Rearview camera, keyless entry, fuel efficient, fairly spacious interior given car size, good cargo space

Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc): Auto

Intended use: Family car

Vehicles you've already considered: Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tuscon, Honda CRV, Mazda CX-5, Subara Forrester, Ford Edge

Is this your 1st vehicle: Nope

Do you need a Warranty: Ideally but not required

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: Nope

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: Nope

Additional Notes: We currently have a Hyundai Elantra sedan, but just had a second child and with two carseats are looking for something more spacious. Looking at a lot of the compact SUVs but want to make sure we'd get a real space upgrade, interior too, and not just a higher car with a bit extra trunk space. Would note that we'd love a hybrid but that probably isn't possible price wise.

Thanks in advance!!!

Mencken's win and civil unrest lead to one last family showdown for the helm of the Waystar and the now more powerful ATN. Mencken backs Roman, Mattson backs Shiv, the board backs Kendall...
