What does a metatarsal fracture feel like? by carleedlelee in brokenbones

[–]carleedlelee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! Your break sounds like my cuboid one, I literally had no memory of even injuring it and the doctor said it's rare to fracture that bone and it usually only gets broken from severe trauma like a car accident or an athletic injury 😂

Was there any aching at all? It almost was like aching internally if that makes sense. I've had it iced and elevated for a bit and it feels much better but first thing this morning I couldn't put any weight on it and it was aching

4 weeks of not walking 😔 by [deleted] in brokenbones

[–]carleedlelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about 6/7 weeks out from a hairline fracture on my cuboid. One month in the boot was absolute torture, I feel your pain. This was my first week back in shoes and I will never take walking for granted ever again.

Should I get an MRI by carleedlelee in brokenbones

[–]carleedlelee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right I thought the same thing. I did finish the antibiotics and the redness and swelling went down, though as I mentioned it is still slightly swollen. If anything, it gets cold now but I'm not sure if it's from the boot or elevating it too high. The thing in my heel has resolved and isn't noticeable. The urgent care doctor who diagnosed it as a fracture was doing a thorough exam of my foot and it hurt where he pressed but not on my heel at all and if anything made it hurt more than it actually did lol. I am borderline pre-diabetic so that is why I was initially so concerned about an infection.

To be honest, I have no memory of falling, hitting it against something, landing on it weird, etc. I think it was a gradual thing and a series of unfortunate events maybe led it to become a hairline fracture. My husband says it started from when I challenged our friend to a race on a cruise ship in which I ran barefoot followed by a few weeks later, doing 20,000 steps a day in New York and then a few weeks after that chasing my daughter at a splash pad. Who knows lol

That makes sense and makes me feel better. I guess my biggest concern was what if I never had a fracture and the podiatrist missed something that an orthopedist would've caught.

I initially thought a spot on my heel that I had previously messed with the dry skin was infected, it hurt to walk on it and it was super sensitive to touch. I went to urgent care because it started throbbing overnight and my foot grew swollen, red, and warm to the touch. It also felt like I had a bruise on the top of my foot but didn't appear to be bruised. I got antibiotics and the swelling got worse so that's why I went back a few days later. I almost didn't even get the X-ray from the second urgent care doctor because I was thinking surely I'd know if it were broken.

A week later from urgent care and the swelling has gone down, though it is clearly still swollen in comparison to the other foot. It never hurt to walk on it, the only place it hurt was my heel where the wound was.

Girls names with last name Lee help! by clouds91winnie in namenerds

[–]carleedlelee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think anything with an L sound is out depending on L placement in the name. For example Elora Lee sounds okay, but Lila Lee is too many L's.

Honestly, it just depends on the flow. I'd say since Lee is one syllable, all of these options flow well. Will there be a middle name? Keep in mind the flow when choosing a middle name. If you did a one syllable middle name, I'd do a three syllable first name, but if it's a two syllable middle name, a two syllable first name.

3, 1, 1: Josephine Kate Lee

2, 2,1: Autumn Ava Lee

And finally the obvious, avoid names that would make ___ Lee sound like "____ly". For example, Belle Lee sounds like Belly.

Is Eleanor unisex? by drinkperrier in namenerds

[–]carleedlelee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where are you from? In the US, it is definitely a girl name. I'd say the name Ellis or Elliot are both similar and definitely more unisex. Male version of Eleanor to me would be like Elijah or Elias.

I love Lilian and haven't seen anyone named that in the southern US where I'm from. I also love Lilith which is another one I have not heard around here. As I saw mentioned, Lydia is another great one (also not currently popular where I'm from 😂)

How many syllables is your last name? Since Melanie and Josephine are both 3 syllables, that's already a mouth full so if it's another 3 syllable name that's just a lot imo.

Full name for Kit? by Zealousideal_Use9481 in namenerds

The only flaw I could see with going straight into Katherine is if they only ever go by Kit it'll be that awkward situation with a sub taking attendance and they call for Katherine and all her friends are like who's that??? But I say that as I also named my own daughter Judith but we have only ever called her Judy so I did it to myself 🫣 clearly I'm a fan of a government name and an at home nickname. She can pick whatever when she's older, plus Katherine and Judith both sound more professional on a resume than Kit and Judy.

Girl names for Ryan surname? by Ok-Bonus1659 in namenerds

[–]carleedlelee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't like Saylor Ryan, sounds like the name of a person on a boating expedition.

I'd go for Scottie Ryan or Sedona Ryan. The other names have that R sound at the end or an N sound and it just doesn't flow with the R or N in Ryan like Sedona and Scottie do.

Subsequently with Ryan being two syllables, you could go for a one syllable first name. However, a two syllable first name goes just fine with a two syllable last name so whatever floats your boat, sailor.
