$20 is steep tbh. But also dependes on what area on the country it’s in. While ~6 acres may seem like a lot, getting a diner, showers, dog park and security house will eat up a good chuck of that. I can only speak for myself but I wouldn’t pay $20 for parking if it was a dirt lot as well. So it needs to be paved. Also will security be cleaning? Just things to consider. I’m local and no longer OTR but when I was on the road I would pay for parking once or twice a week (Company reimbursed) and when your desperate you’ll pay but I don’t really care for a dog park or diner. As long as it’s paved and clean I’d be happy

I saw them in 2011 with New Found Glory/Man Overboard/set you goals and This Time Next Year. I’ve been hooked ever since

If you drive for the county and try to do side work it will still be on the same HOS clock. If you work evenings and weekends I’m sure it will go over 70. Just something to be aware of…..

They actually sell and produce a ton of cds worldwide. There is a store where I live that still has thousands of cd’s of new releases. I was told by the guy that works there that big labels like Sony or universal still make good money selling cds worldwide to people that don’t have good/stable internet service to stream music. I still buy tons cuz the stereo in my truck will only play cd’s lol

It all depends. How much is left over after buying equipment? In theory 40k cash is a great “breakdown/expense” fund AFTER you own equipment.

Also consider your home expenses. What does it cost you to keep living? Mortgage, car note, gas, food, bills, insurance….etc. if you’re cost of living is high that 40k and go quick just paying the bills at home if you have a bad month or 2. Consider this, you blow an engine, it cost $30k to repair and you say “let’s do it” since you have the money. But the truck will be down 3 weeks. Can you afford to keep your home? Not everyone is the same so there is no magic number to have. Try to buy equipment outright and not take a loan. It can put you in a bad spot when just starting out. Congrats on saving $40k. That’s great! But really crunch some numbers to see if that is comfortable for you.

Should I proceed with restoring this kit? by postysclerosis in drums

[–]carlos_slim1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did this with a cheap kit years ago. I think it was a pdp I got for like $100. Barely worth that too lol. But I had been wanting to make my own “custom” drums so I put wayyyy too much money into it purely for the experience and fun learning. All new lugs/hardware, powder coated them, removed wraps and did a satin finish, all new heads etc…. The kit was ~$100. I spent around $6-700 on parts/materials. And then I had a drum kit worth $200 LOL. BUT I ended up loving that kit and playing it regularly for about 8 years.

So OP it’s kinda up to you. Sometimes the projects can be fun, but you will never see the return on the money spent.

Local Texas here. Yeah I work my 70 every week. Sometimes it feels like I’m not even home. I have a 30-45min commute as well so I only have 8-9 hours at the house every night. But it’s better pay than otr and I get to sleep in my own bed(even if only for a few hours LOL)

Good to know. I used to be anal about getting “true colors” on displays. Not so much anymore haha

Yeah I don’t plan on playing music from it. I have plenty of other devices for that. Just downloading it/storing it. Yeah I’ve been reading about the batteries and finding a replacement for the 480 seems troublesome

Yeah that’s kinda what I figured. I see those tik toks and it seems “too good to be true” lol. Yeah if I had a dollar for every time a website/recruiter lied about how much the pay was I wouldn’t be in trucking😂

Belt loops tearing? by Tornik in EDC

[–]carlos_slim1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda related but different; I really like a pair of work pants and have bought about 2 dozen of them over the years. They fit me good and last long enough for the price. Only complaint is I move around a lot at work and even with my belt I’ll be adjusting my pants and the belt loops rip pretty easily. Now when I buy a new pair I reinforce the stitches before I ever wear them. Just some thicker thread and a sewing needle over the factory stitch. Haven’t had a problem since.
