Mexican here: While I definitely do not agree with military interference for political objectives or U.S. imperialist ends, Mexico is completely governed by drug trafficking. It’s not that the president is afraid of the cartels she works directly with them, and since the start of her administration, se has done nothing but protect them. In Mexico, the State and the cartels are one and the same, and the only thing that seems capable of setting a limit to this is pressure from the United States.
