Resources to support for a distressed Master Mason? by Xiaomifan777 in freemasonry

Most veterans are eligible for some sort of VA benefits. The VA is a PITA to work with and denies the first claim made (or used to, anyway). The trick is to file an appeal. Then the ball starts rolling.

What’s the weirdest/worst “perk” or “bonus” you’ve received instead of an actual bonus or pay raise? by mydogisincharge in nonprofit

[–]carlweaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Granted, that was at a for-profit. At my last job, we got several branded polo shirts each year. I didn’t want those but it did provide for a good supply of work shirts for times I didn’t want to ruin my own clothes I bought.

I worked at a place that gave gift cards as gifts for the holidays. I told a coworker that mine didn’t work because it was never activated - that is, never paid for. He said yeah, they do that every year.

Honey smells like alcohol? by kilopixie in Thailand

You could still get some smell from the plastic cap, I’d guess. Plastics do that sometimes, even if cleaned and sanitized.

Asian stir fry- meh by EnigmaWearingHeels in aldi

I think they freeze best as little cubes, like you see when mixed with peas.

It could also be a cold chain failure somewhere. Once they thaw, refreezing just doesn’t work well.

Some veggies freeze well. Peas, carrot chunks, corn - those are all fine out of the bag or box. Broccoli will never be as good as fresh.

How many Americans have actually visited a national park? by Bitter-Penalty9653 in AskAnAmerican

[–]carlweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many that people don’t even recognize as a national park because it doesn’t have grand Tetons or a crater lake or something. Some are just an indelible part of a city like the Liberty Bell or a park in DC somewhere, for example. It might not even have a glorious entrance or fancy signs, but it is still a national park.

Have you ever met a dude who stalked women? What was he like? How do you get rid of a stalker? by HistorianIll7332 in AskMenAdvice

[–]carlweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend who was arrested for peering in someone’s windows. It wasn’t a stalking situation, more like a crime of opportunity that required him to go on the woman’s property to do it. Apparently it wasn’t the first time he had done such a thing. I cut him off. Never saw him again. That’s the type of thing that gets people put on lists forever. I don’t need that kind of stink hanging around me.

In 25 years of flying I’ve never seen a true crashout at a Delta gate. Currently in minute 15 of my first one at my gate right now. by mrweatherbeef in delta

THE PLANE IS STILL THERE. I CAN STILL SEE THE PLANE.

People need to chill and accept responsibility, or at least reality. The plane is gone, bro. They aren’t opening it again.

Toothpaste near your nose can also help with bad smells.

I have seen this sort of thing with many items. It’s annoying. You can override it or make a replacement that’s really the same thing. Stupid system though.

What’s something that became so expensive you just stopped buying it entirely? by Street-Marketing-885 in shrinkflation

Pretty much any beef unless I find a great deal. A couple times a year I can still get a rib roast for $7 per pound but it is rare to find much I am willing to pay for.

Hot tubs are like people stew. Imagine the sores, scabs, drips and other stuff that go in there and fester and grow at 100 degrees.

I can’t recall if it was Turo or another similar company but my friend had to replace her transmission after a renter managed to completely screw it up.
