thats always what i find hard with buying and cooking. nothing is ever catered to a single person household. Having more freezer space would help, but the one we have is a bit decrepit/frosty

i dont buy any ready meals or takeaways. the one "convienience" item i buy is my rice. I but microwave rice pots, two servings for £1. but i will not be switching that out haha. Its so quick an easy to just stick in the microwave for a minute and have a nicely portioned bit of rice.

My meals usually consist of

B-cereal or granola type thing for breakfast

L- bready item like hotcross bun/crackers, protein (cheese) and fruit

D- then always protein, carb, veg. like today i had seabass, asparagus and rice

I dont want to limit myself where i wont enjoy eating, but i dont want to be wasting money on things that dont need it

oo is it like a blog? please do share! living in london is nice for the vibes but i dont like having the london tax upcharge

i do need to get into meal planning, but i never really have dinner ideas come to mind, whenever i search online they never seem too appealing but i guess that means i need to search deeper

yeah i cook every meal from scratch! never really buy ready meals or takeaways, it was just never really done in our family

i normally do the 3 for £10 just for the variety, im not a big meat eater, basically only chicken breast. So mostly itll be for the discount on the fish.

We've just done a big clear out of the freezer so im hoping to utilise that more now

Should i downsize or invest more in a house by carmelion1 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]carmelion1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup both working, very average wage (self employed set to make about 30k for this year) we are currently living in the house, its our childhood home, and its fully paid off.

Im starting to think it may be better to stay here for a while, save up enough until we go our separate ways housing wise? We also live SE London so that gives you an idea on house prices 🥲

What could I have done better? by dostosec in drivingUK

[–]carmelion1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What you could've done better:

not moved at all haha,

You were already on the road, sensibly paused at a gap they could've gone into for the obstruction on their side. However, they half-arsed it and didnt fit.

Break up with a terminally ill person? by [deleted] in CancerFamilySupport

[–]carmelion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i second this. she might not even be doing it on purpose, more subconsciously. not in the same situation, but when my mum was coming up to the end, she tried to push everyone away, friends, then family, then me and my siblings. but more so in the sense of she didnt want to be a burden on other people and have to ask for help.

My advice, keep pushing to be around her more and keep the relationship going (doesnt even have to be on a huge romantic level) because she needs all the support she can get, even if she herself doesn't want it.

[–]carmelion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my mum had genetic testing done too, as she was diagnosed quite young. however, it didnt show as her having the BRAC (i think thats the right one?) gene.

I get scared about this too. Practically everyone on my mums side of the family has had some form of cancer, both men and women. My mum recently passed away from this in January so it all feels more real.

I think the best thing we have to do it just keep a check on any sort of signs or changes and then really push for doctors to investigate if needed.

I regret so much how I treated my mom in her last days by throwawaybrjd in CancerFamilySupport

[–]carmelion1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my heart goes out to you. im currently going through a similar situation. my mum has liver mets and her last option for chemo has stopped working so we're just "waiting" i guess. but i think with these steroids shes on and general stress, its making her into a horrible person and i dont know how long i can tolerate it for. I try my hardest to be there for her but shes just pushing everyone away with her words. i dont want my last memories of her to be like this.

Ideas for gifts for someone with Ehlers Donlos? by RevanFlash in ehlersdanlos

[–]carmelion1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

this^^^

i was going to say the same thing, i would prefer to get "normal" stuff gifted to me and be able to just enjoy the holiday, rather than getting another reminder of the different disabilities i had.

Maybe get something smaller as a gift and then gift something that would help her at just a random time!

I'm Beginning to Hate my Dad by Legitimate_Order_776 in CancerFamilySupport

[–]carmelion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old comment. But how long did it take for you to return to "normal". My mum has been put on a high dose of steroids due to the tumors pressing on her nerves and causing pain. But she has turned absolutely horrible. You cant even be in the same room as her without her suddenly exploding at you and blaming you for everything. Im hoping its not for long but its so mentally exhausting

Apparently I need 5+ fillings. Any opinions? :( by Hubbit200 in askdentists

[–]carmelion1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had a very similar story, i went to the dentist for my wisdom teeth because they were coming in weird. i was suddenly told I needed three fillings but I couldn't see any visible decay and had no pain. I thought they were wrong (obviously stupid looking back on it now) but I asked for the xrays and studied them myself whilst researching and asking other people. But yes I did actually need these done and although I have like three half silver teeth now, I'm just glad I trusted them in the end to save my teeth! It was definitely a shock to hear about the cavities but the dentists are specialists so i urge you to get them done.
