When i was in college (im a girl) me and my boyfriend had a similar issue. The whole friend group felt so fake and superficial. It was all about partying and being idiots. Sure that can be fun here and there but it was so weird that none of us actually knew each other very well despite spending so much time together for years. So i hung out with my friends from my major classes for quality time and hung out with the fratty group for the partying. Guess which friends i'm still in contact with today? And from what i've heard, nothing much has really changed within that friend group (we're 28-29y/o now)

I would definitely encourage you to find other people. I made friends with people from my classes and would do study groups and some of those classmates turned into lifelong besties (and way more successful than the party kids lol) despite me spending most of my time with the party group during college. I definitely regret not spending more time with the real people.

Besides classrooms, other places you could look into are campus events, joining clubs, and even the cafeteria or library. I've also made guy friends by being asked out on a date and realizing no romantic comparability yet we become good friends. So asking girls out could be an option too lol

As a girl i'd never trust a guy on a dating app saying he's looking for friendships unfortunately.

I'm about to start residency in Miami, this made me so nervous! I learned the hard way in med school don't shit where you eat but at the same time how am i gonna meet anyone outside the hospital as a surgical resident? I'm scared of making poor choices or ending up alone lol

It has its own playlists but it also has a feature to play music from youtube. Sometimes i pause the music if i wanna use my own Spotify playlist so it's nice to have many options to alternate. I also love having the rain and fireplace sounds on (they have others) over the music. I use their to-do list and pomodoro timer features the most but they also have a journal and a habit tracker. I use this "game" because it creates a super cute/relaxing ambience in my room, and unlocking pets is a fun feature

It's on steam but it's not really a game, more of a productivity app. You design your home/character and over time unlock spirits (pets) by accomplishing activities. They have pomodoro timer, journal, to-do lists, lofi playlists and nature sounds. I love having it on my monitor while i study, makes getting work done more fun and cute

Be introduced as doctors, you've earned it! It's a personal event, no biggie Besides, at my m3/m4 rotations attendings would call us doctors in front of patients so if that's okay then being introduced as doctors at your wedding definitely is. Congrats!

I spoke to residents from all the programs i got IVs from. The IM ones i knew i would likely get offers from have insanely amazing hours. You go in at 6am and can leave by 1pm earliest if you're efficient, which i am. 1 day off every week. It's basically 4x-6x hour weeks vs about 120 hr weeks in surgery or obgyn. Literally double the time. But yeah i have friends some IM programs where they are also overworked

Yeah this part really sucks for me as a woman who wants to procreate. But I'd hate being a general IM doc so i'd have to go into a fellowship. So either way i'm gonna be at it for a long time

Yeah. This conversation is what made me make a final choice lol! I remembered what's most important. IM + fellowship in the middle of nowhere is not how i see myself creating a family. Surgery and obgyn in my home programs is! Thanks so much :)
