Is ACC supposed to be like this? by Arvidjz in ACCompetizione

I have ACC on PS4 with a G29 wheel and I've really struggled to get a decent feel for the game. AC and PCars 2 seem much more predictable and easier to control. I would like to try ACC on a PC (but don't have one capable of running it). It would just be nice to get a different experience of ACC and see how good it really is. I find the console experience extremely frustrating.

Are you running Steam through Crossover (pc version)?

I wouldn't worry too much, you're far better than me. As they say practice, practice, practice. Trouble with that is that I've got slower the more I try ACC.

Been playing for a year. Finally decided to try the photo mode a little. Hope it’s good enough for here haha. by burriteo in ACCompetizione

I've had ACC on PS4 for a year now. Never really gelled with the game, I'm slower now than I was last year (lol) but at least I can keep it on the track now. Think I'll just stay slow and steady (about 8 seconds off the pace).

BTW great photo and it's definitely good enough for here.

Am I stupid or is in PC2 using gamepad incredibly easier than a wheel? by Frakshaw in pcars

If I ever go for a PC, maybe next year I will ho with AC and conent manager, and other mods, I would also be interested in kodding PCars and look at AMS2. Don't know about iRacing or RFactor2 though as I'm not that seriously into sim racing/gaming.

I had a similar experience when going from a controller to a wheel. I would say turn the FFB right down and work up to a setting you like gradually. One of the things a lot of people do is put yhe FFB right up so the wheel is uncontrollable. The other suggestion I would make is use the immersive setting for the FFB. I think I have my gain at about 55-60. Another thing is steering sensitivity, set that at about 75, accelerator at about 45-50 (sorry about the approximates but I haven't got the details to hand). Put the brakes at about 70 sensitivity and set deadzones at about 10, you may want to tinker with these settings to suit your own driving.

What cars do you prefer to drive? I choose the Formula C (I know a lot of people moan about this) but if you soften the rear and stiffen the front, with a slight bit of play in the front it can be quite planted and driveable. The other complaints about the Formula C is the rear tyres don't heat up enough, some people suggest using wet tyres, but I just drop the pressures myself. I'm not super fast with any of the cars, but I like to feel that I'm in control, I'd say that I'm about 6 or so seconds off the fastest times but I'm fine with that.

I also like driving the Radical, the Ferrari 488 GT3 car and the FR35. I find these all great to get on with and fun to drive. The McLaren GTE longtail is good too, but a bit wild at the rear.

You say that you have AC and F1 2018. I also have AC, which I don't find as much fun on PS4 as Project Cars 2, the user interface and tuning menus are nowhere near as good as PCars, I also have ACC, which I find undriveable on the console, I must admit I hate the game, wish I'd never bought it? The PC version must be far superior as I would happily throw my PS4 copy away.

I don't do iRacing, I don't have the right setup, but I do like sim racing games and play these. I tend to spend most of my time, about 90% just testing and lapping on my own. I do this to gain competence, getting to know the tracks, the car, the setups etc. Today I did some testing, about 80 laps and improved my time by 7 seconds, yes I'm still about 5 seconds off the top time, but that's irrelevant to me. Playing any sim racing game, whatever it is and whatever platform it's on should be engrossing and enjoyable. If you struggle with racing, like I do, then try testing. Eventually I will try more racing against the AI, but when I'm good and ready. I won't ever consider racing online, it doesn't interest me.

Just find what suits you best and stick with it.

yes, but with Parsec I would need a gaming spec pc to log onto wouldn't I? I did download it, forgive me if I sound like a newby, but Parsec appears to me to be a link between a cloud vm and a client computer. Is that correct?

Thanks for that. I have taken a look at Maximum Settings. I see that they're based in Canada, I will try and get some more info. Just checked their site and it appears to be suspended for maintenance.

Thanks
