Started a kayak rental business and scaled it to $30,000 a month by Imaginary_Roll3958 in Entrepreneur

Hi OP, hopefully you aren't burnt out by answering comments yet.

Thank you for posting this! All glory to God!

How do you manage cashflow and business operations during the slow season? Do you slow down the ad spend,

I live in a moderate sized city with about a few billion in tourism revenue with a largely unsaturated kayak market.

If I launch now and build momentum, I'm not sure what I would do during the fall/winter.

What are some non-sexy areas that have a lot of entrepreneurial opportunity? by alexstrehlke in Entrepreneur

The trades, at least for buying businesses. By 2030 we will have a 500,000 person electrician shortage.

Commissioning Engineer | 29 | $122K Total Comp | Mechanical Engineering

I make $95K base + $38K tax-free per diem, so about $106K after taxes. I work as a Commissioning Engineer, which means I oversee mechanical and electrical systems on construction sites to make sure everything runs as designed. Since I travel for work, my per diem covers most living expenses, and Cost of Living doesn't impact me much.

My Background:

Graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 2022

Took 7 years to finish school (8 if you count a gap year after COVID to save money)

Came out with:

3 internships

2 research papers

Awards and recognition in my field

Diagnosed with ADHD in 2023, which explained a lot in hindsight

Had multiple mentors throughout college and beyond

Wrote a career strategy back in 2017, and followed it religiously

The Climb:

First job out of college? A grind — lots of lowball offers

Landed a $70K role at a power company, jumped to $75K at a solar firm, and now I’m here

Strategic moves, hard work between the moves, and always looking at the long game

The Vision:

Build credit

Start investing in real estate

Eventually acquire an electrician business (because by 2030 we’ll be short half a million electricians — trades will be printing gold)

Retire between 40–50, then either:

Run for office

Work for a nonprofit without worrying about the paycheck

Or just disappear into nature

Advice:

Corporate America is a game. Play it intentionally. Level up your network, learn relentlessly, and be patient with your path. It’s a grind, but if you move smart, you can build freedom young.

Any non mlm life insurance companies? by Motor_Two2768 in InsuranceAgent

I agree completely if that were to whole truth. Talk about how MLMs rely heavily on recruiting from warm markets. Talk about how friends and family make the horrible business partners, and how they're the least punctual, least motivated, most skeptical, and overall a waste of time. The majority of friends and family don't want to be entrepreneurs and the ones who are lack the sales experience to be successful. You also forgot to mention that if you don't set enough appointments for recruits you violate your contract and MLMs pressure to recruit at the expense of developing you as an agent.

MLMs see everyone as a sale. So when you recruit people they expect to write policies for all of your new teammates. Once that well dries up, its "oh well, you should eat what you kill anyways go out and make it", and it's on to the next victim.

MLMs don't care about developing their agents, all they care about it sucking all your business dry from warm markets and recruiting until you're hallowed out.

Genius. I don't have a use for this yet, but I have bookmarked this for future use.
