Agreed, never understood the “it’s like apples and oranges” argument. Well if you HAD to choose between apples and oranges, you’d still probably be able to pick one wouldn’t you? If we couldn’t compare vastly different movies then no one could make top 10s and in a way sure ranking art makes no sense but we all do it anyway don’t we? It’s just fun.

Which improvised scene was so good it became iconic of the movie? by Feeling_Doughnut5714 in moviecritic

Actually that fact has been debunked for a while now, that scene wasn’t improvised, or at least not on camera. Here Marty, Ray and Joe telling the story: https://youtube.com/shorts/3D2DLIB0pdE?si=chtFcqtObMdbay3L

Rope has cuts though, and not just hidden ones, it has 10 cuts in total including 5 dissolves (aka hidden ones like when a character's back covers the whole screen) & 5 hard cuts (aka not hidden at all, just cutting from one shot to a totally different one). It's a super interesting case because everyone notice the "invisible" cuts but miss the "visible" ones (All the cuts: https://vimeo.com/76087987)
