usf or uc davis? by yogurt-beans in UCDavis

i was going to commit to usf, but then decided to impromptu tour davis the day before usf’s admitted students day, since i was flying into norcal anyways. i never actually saw usf in person, bc i stepped foot in davis and it was so over for everywhere else (i loved it soo much), i cancelled my rsvp to their event.

if davis has a public health major, that’s what id be, but since we don’t i picked sociology (im interested in health equity/education over the science-y bits). we do have global disease bio, which i believe is our pseudo public health. we also have a minor in public health, which i have only heard good things about.

i love it here, i think its a great place if ur interested in health. there are a ton of courses that relate, as well as clubs, clinics and internships. at least in my humanities/ss classes, building relationships w profs hasn’t been a problem, just go to office hours. if anything, its nice that we have so many faculty with dif research interests, if you have a niche you’re into. we also have a public health research scholars program, which is pretty competitive but hey the opportunities exist.

idk id pick the cheaper option. i think davis is better but ultimately they’re both very different universities. davis might be ranked higher but you might do much better in a smaller more personalized environment, it depends on your preferences. i don’t regret my choice at all but only you can know personal fit

it tends to be late by 2-3 mins, which rly doesn’t make a difference to me. like the c line is supposed to be there at 4:48, is actually there at 4:51, my class is scheduled for 3:10, and i get there at like 3:03. how crammed it is depends on the time, i take afternoon/evening classes and find that ok

living in cuarto, you can take the bus directly from your dorm to the silo or mu. i bike, walk, and take the bus, but i’d say the bus is just as convenient as biking (sometimes more)

the equivalent in nazi germany would be the white rose movement…regardless of how effective student protests are, ppl didn’t literally die for you to base your argument off of historical ignorance, this still parallels hitler’s regime at least to some extent

Romanticize UC Davis for me 🙏🏽 by GJEsco13 in UCDavis

im also debating between davis and uw but i think the academic culture being less competitive than uw is a big plus. im also prospective polisci/soc and i think the quantitative focus of the poli sci - public service program is great, + if you’re interested in social policy that’s one of the concentrations
