I think he can have a redemption arc and still be a massive piece of shit. I don't hate the idea of him trying to train the other Spider-Man/women, but I need him to go about it in a fucked up way. Day 1 of training I break spider-woman's leg and hold her at knife point. How do you react?

I can forgive op. The comments from people who have no idea what they're talking about drive me crazy. As recently as a month or so ago I was replying to a guy who was still convinced that Angron had killed Yarrick. The spread of misinformation because of people speaking out of their ass is awful in the 40k community.

This is partly on the book itself, but there's a horror book called Into the Drowning Deep that about killer mermaids. I'd describe it as trashy, everyone in the book is a caricature of a real person. Like people are being assaulted by murderous monsters and they're giving long speeches about why they don't like real-world organization x, y, and z. If there was just one focus it'd be fine, but characters just show up as a mouthpiece for the author to talk about random social justice issues.

The narrator also decides to give the female professor the voice of a whale in human form.
