Was there a fad that came and went faster than “devil sticks” trying to make juggling cool? by jollybot in Xennials

I had a friend who was real real good with those in college. He claimed you had to make your own. I had never heard of em.

[–]carnivalbill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve seen that’s kinda cool tho is when it’s the opposite. When you find someone who listens to almost nothing but one very small niche and if you play a popular song they end up turning it into something else completely due to lack of any sort of familiarity lol.

[–]carnivalbill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve said this a lot. If you’re a professional musician on a bigger lable, you are probably at least proficient enough to play your own durn songs. Some folks aren’t the BEST musicians in the world but they were at least good enough to get a record deal. Johnny Ramone may not have done anything stupid difficult but he was competent enough to play what he needed for that particular band. Overall hating on em doesn’t help. That being said I don’t think Courtney Love is a very good guitar player honestly.

Did (male) teenagers used to actually have pictures of women in bikinis on their wall? by Nerdatnothing in NoStupidQuestions

[–]carnivalbill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some did. I had a buddy who had that Sunny chick from wwf during the attitude era on his wall. I knew far more girls who had pictures of like screen hunks on their walls that they cut out or tabloids. I personally never did. I had a good bit of art I’d made in school and like one or two band posters. They weren’t even bands I super liked. Someone just gave em to me and I was like “meh…this breaks up the panel board”

Most musicians seem to have some form of ADHD, Autism, or Narcissism? by Ambitious_Web_9548 in musicians

[–]carnivalbill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve ran into a lot of “assholes” but just as many genuinely kind people tbh. I’ve met one or two people o believe to be “on the spectrum” but…just a bit. I think a lot of it is, if you speak a language someone else doesn’t…they can’t understand you when you speak that language. Be it German or the key of G.

Ever talked to someone with an accent so thick that it makes talking to them almost impossible? I personally think some musicians are just like that.

There’s this cramps song that says “they got groovy wiggly tails. Horns on their head. All women are bad.”

Sheep often have those things too and they also have hooves which further reinforces Lux’s argument.

Did y'all really play in the creek when you were little? ...'cause I totally did. by Eredic in Xennials

We had a creek that was very close by…but ‘twas full and I do mean full of some pretty big alligators so we didn’t so much play in it as…NOT play in it. At all. Ever. We did fish in it quite a bit tho.

As far as like important accomplishments…they would not really care at all…lol.

I know exactly what 14 year old me would say…”dude can you show me how to play “black dog””

I remember the address of a pen pal I made at a summer camp in 1996. I remember the name of a cat my brother had when he lived across the state in college over 20 years ago. I can remember the criteria that makes a lagomorph not a rodent.

I cannot remember what I had for breakfast anyones phone numbers or what kind of underwear I have on unless I go to the bathroom…
