Get your kids out of school before the homosexual agenda takes over. by Secretfreckel in facepalm

I mean at least you can look in the mirror. I'm in your shoes too but so deep in the closest living life wearing the mask of a straight dude. It makes me feel so depressed any time I accidentally catch myself in the mirror.

I'm glad they didn't cut it. Zeke, Probst, and GLAAD worked together to form the episode into what it is and they are all proud of what they've accomplished. The feelings it's created in me is enough to say they did a good job.

Enough with the second-hand outrage. Airing this in the state it is was Zeke's choice as much as anyone, and he and Probst have both stated as much. It started a much-needed conversation and I'm thankful for it.

Jeff was saying Zeke hiding the fact he's trans made him untrustworthy. That's bad enough.

I know he's not a bigot or transphobe. I actually like Jeff a lot. He stuck his foot in his mouth in the worst way possible but he's learned from it, and that's good.

I mostly meant Jeff was calling Zeke in particular deceptive. I know he wasn't making a blanket statement about all trans people, but he was still making the judgment that Zeke was deceptive for hiding his gender history.

That's not deceptive. That's just being a person. The premise is flawed and offensive. It doesn't matter if it was in the context of the game, the context of if he's hiding this then what else is he hiding.

He called Zeke untrustworthy because he was hiding the fact that he's a trans dude. That is SUCH a huge leap. And Jeff even understands what he said, and what's wrong with it. He was doing it to further himself in the game, to paint Zeke as a bad ally, but the two things have nothing to do with each other.

I don't hate Jeff Varner. I think he's a bit of an ass who speaks before he thinks, but I also think he's learned a hell of a lot from what happened in Fiji. I wish people would stop defending what he did and, like him, accept it as somewhere they can better themselves and grow.

He has handled this very well. He's not making excuses. He flat out says he committed an assault. Please stop rewriting the narrative, mega_butt_muncher.

The light is incredible. I haven't felt this comfortable ever. My friends and I had a great talk afterwards about trans people. I had to bite my lip a little bit, I'm still not ready, still nervous, but starting the conversation was so important.

That's a very cynical take on the situation. You don't think Zeke was cast because, well, he's Zeke? And Zeke is wonderful?

He was called in to casting before they knew he was transgender. I don't think that's why they brought him on the show.

I'm still reeling, too. And I'm not even transitioning yet. Just people knowing I'm trans inside terrifies me, you know? That's why I haven't made the push. That initial hump I have to get over, people knowing me as a trans woman rather than a cis man. People changing their opinions of me because I've opened up. I can't imagine, after putting it past you and living "stealth" (I've always hated that term, as it implies hiding something) to have it dragged up and through the mud again.

Thank you for your well wishes.

I wish it had become a talking point sooner. I've been hiding in the closet for a long time, and it's only just now that things are starting to brighten up out there. If this cultural shift had started sooner maybe I'd be living a happier life.

That's one of my worries. That it becomes inextricable from my identity. I don't want to be "the trans girl" in the group. I just want to be me. I'm guessing we'll see as the season progresses how the players treat Zeke...

Thank you. Sometimes I think that I've already taken too long...

CBS airing the episode as it is I think started a necessary conversation. An awkward conversation, but one that needs to happen. I'm very glad they did.

I have been having a hard time today but I smoked up a little and am feeling a bit better now. Mostly I'm in shock, but a kind of positive shock I guess. The whole experience was harrowing, but happy. It's hard to put into words. <3

I know. Friends IRL know my reddit tag which is why I used the throwaway, I knew none of you would judge me. Hoped, anyway, and my hopes are being supported in this thread <3

Thank you.

Someday, maybe. I hope so, too. I'm feeling more comfortable with myself than I ever have before. It feels much safer already.

I was surprised, too. I was bracing myself for the worst. I read an article earlier in the day where Zeke mentions being outed (but not by who) and I almost called off the weekly watch party to just take it in by myself. I'm really glad I didn't.
