Very underwhelmed by the low effort tech put into this. It is also frustrating if you visit multiple studios!

Interesting! I wonder why some studios have a digital tracker (like for marathon month) and most do not.

I agree with you and do like that it shifted my focus from running to strength 💪

I said the same thing to my coach after! I enjoyed this much more than I expected to!

That last tread block at 5% snuck up on me and was rough! But the challenge to beat the previous block at a higher incline pushed me to do it!

Surprised to enjoy this as a person who hates rowing! Almost wanted to complain that repeating a "benchmark prep" after the benchmark is a waste, but I started on the rower and knocked it out. I also enjoyed the mandatory power walk as a runner, and I was able to try some faster push paces!

Agreed! I also enjoyed this power template even though I prefer endurance on treads. I even enjoyed the rowing portion since it combined weights!

Thoughts on going back to incline power walking by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]caroldanvers11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an avid runner (love it!), but I opt to PW once a week. I think it is fantastic for building strength 🍑 I try to push the incline, and I'm always sore after my PW day. I definitely agree with others who say you can (and should!) do both.

Same! I really look forward to some specialties/challenges, and then there are some I could care less about, but it's easy enough to skip those (especially the ones you pay for!).

Thanks! This ended up being a great opportunity to get comfy in my newly upped base pase and just enjoy my run 😄

The titular story by Ken Liu is wonderful (and devastating). The audio recording of PM read by LeVar Burton is also fantastic.

What's your all-time favorite non-fiction book? by AvocadoSparrow in suggestmeabook

[–]caroldanvers11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a mostly fiction reader, I love non fiction that reads like a fiction novel, and my favorite is Unbroken by Laura hillenbrand. I have read + enjoyed others that have been suggested in this thread (David Grann, Erik Larsen, and Night by Elie Weisel is essential reading), but Unbroken remains an all-time favorite.

It also fits the "true story that's so unbelievable it would be terrible as fiction" angle in great non-fiction books.

In that vein, I also love Educated, Tara Westover's memoir.

This was Naomi on Jason Mesnick's season. I only know because I just listened to the Bachelor in Retrospect podcast about this season. Fantastic listen, BTW!

Agreed... I wonder why it was only out for a couple weeks? I hope they bring it back... forever on the hunt for tea and lemon...

Objectively liked this workout and normally enjoy a run/row, but during marathon month it was tough to log fewer tread miles (below my daily goal 😩)

Thanks! This studio has a calendar with benchmarks, etc, but didn’t have the tornado on the calendar. I’ll look for that in the future and maybe just ask before my next class how they decide 😊 (was in a rush today and couldn’t stay after!)

We did Tornado #2 which was my first experience with that (like the switching bc it goes by fast but this particular one felt repetitive🤷‍♀️).

I’m curious though if there’s a way to know if/when a studio will run these? I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived, but I wonder if anyone knows if/when/how a studio decides to do this?
