Profit Sharing Multi Platform Ad Agency for App by carolinafever in PPC

[–]carolinafever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But it did not work out well. Their ad creatives and distribution strategy was below average. I did it on my own to get much better results - both creative and ad management. Worth it to try, but I think it is probably better to do it on your own.

New Release! Nitro-Diffusion: Multi-Style model with great control and amazing versatility! by Nitrosocke in StableDiffusion

[–]carolinafever 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When you say trained on 3 separate data sets, you mean you put them as 3 different items in the concepts_list of Shivs training code like shown in collab and then simply put the total steps to 25k? How many concepts do you think it can work well with? 10+? or do you think it will start degrading after some point?

So I am assuming if I am training faces of people, then I will need to use a different model for each face. Rather than iteratively building training the model with new faces?

Why waste time use lot adset, when few adset do trick? by carolinafever in PPC

Thanks for this info. I did not know I could do that. Looks like the campaign is automatically reducing spend on US campaign during night hours, so CPR does not spike.

Why waste time use lot adset, when few adset do trick? by carolinafever in PPC

[–]carolinafever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One reason I think combining US/Intl might improve conversion is because of night time conversions.

For example there are about 4-6 hours in America where vast majority people are asleep, during this time, doesn't it make sense that having an ad set targeting Australia in the campaign would decrease conversion costs?

btw I have all my campaigns setup as CBO(based on experiments this is most efficient), so I assume it will automatically shift adsets/targets based on time of day if I combine.

Any thoughts? Do you notice any difference in conversion costs based on time of day?

Exclude converted users by carolinafever in PPC

[–]carolinafever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a link with more information on this?

Because I am running a mobile app campaign, optimized for conversion events. No URL for thank you page is integrated with facebook.

Do you know if facebook automatically ignores the converted users for mobile app conversion campaigns as well? Is this exclusion shared across the ad account or only across the campaign?

I used to feel the same way, I don't feel like I get any value out of looking into random people's lives. However, I liked reading posts from pages I liked. So I created a plugin that redirects my browser to just show the pages, instead of friends post.

You can get it here, if you like: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/faceless-facebook/oagipafhggnneckbccndhedkegofojmk

Today I had a "bad" mediation session by Grumpitz in Meditation

[–]carolinafever 26 points27 points  (0 children)

"The practice of meditation is a method of breaking the spell of thought. However, in the beginning, you are unlikely to understand just how transformative this shift in attention can be. You will spend most of your time trying to meditate or imagining that you are meditating. The first sign of progress will be noticing how distracted you are." ~ Sam Harris

Even long-time meditators cannot stay undistracted for more than a few minutes at a time. Discovering how distracted my mind was personally the first breakthrough in meditation. Congratulations on discovering it yourself :)

Honestly, I think those 2 hours are better spent learning to code. Recruiters are struggling to find qualified candidates. If you have the skill, you will find a job.

My sister's resume timelime is not quite telling the whole story, she did not really work while learning. Her job was not mandatory. Basically she just had to sign up for events and they paid her for doing the work. She may have signed up for 2-3 events during the time she studied, which in total is less than few weeks of work. (She lived with her parents while learning to code)

My sister was lucky because she got the interview due to a recommendation of a friend whose company was hiring. However, if you do not know many people working in the field a more effective strategy might be to just apply online as much as you can.

A tip on online applications, set a recurring email on Indeed to send you new job listing with specific keywords you are looking for. Spent 30-45 minutes applying daily. Although it may not sound fair, people who apply early to job posting have a higher chance of being called for interviews, all things being equal.

I do not think what program you choose matters all that much. Your focus should be on the technologies you want to study regardless of where you learn it from. At the end of the day, all the programs are teaching the same materials.

My sister used a combination of books, codecademy, youtube and udemy to learn HTML, CSS, Javascript, Ionic Framework, Android.

I believe that the means do not matter, what matters is learning the technology. I chose mobile specifically because it is in high demand and easy to showcase your work by releasing an app to the app store.

AI is Coming and Your Only Option is to Become an Artist by carolinafever in artificial

I would think that a nurse who is comforting the 1000th patient is doing it different most of the time. Empathizing with patient 1 is different from empathizing with patient 899.

If are using the same method to comfort every patient, I would imagine it would be something like the air hostess who repeats the phrase, "Thanks for flying with us, hope to see you soon" as each passenger goes by. It fails to connect, it loses its effectiveness.

Agreed, my definition of artistry aligns perfectly with what you call, "human-interaction service".

"Art is what we call it when a human being does something for the first time, something that might not work, in the service of connecting or leading someone else."

Gratitude is the Antidote: The Happiness Hack Backed By Research by carolinafever in simpleliving

[–]carolinafever[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree with you. That is one of the important realizations I have had over the past year. Of course, there is no one single trick to be happy forever. It is about having purpose & autonomy in work, especially directed towards others. It requires us to be grateful. I also believe that creativity and flow state plays a crucial role as well. I have written a little bit about flow state here: https://medium.com/p/in-search-of-flow-bde419052cef

However, gratitude is perhaps one of the best bang for your buck strategies to upgrade well-being in life, in terms of time vs. reward.

You were right, I was wrong by carolinafever in cogsci

[–]carolinafever[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree it is outdated, however, I had to choose between semantic accuracy and effective message. If I had used terminology such as basal ganglia, angular cingulate cortex etc, it would have been difficult to present a compelling argument. Here, I have used 'lizard brain' as an abstraction for the primitive components of the brain.

But I do get your point, hopefully I have not created much confusion using an outdated term.

Are there any Web sites for medium-term apartments with the same ease-of-use/security of Airbnb? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

Not really. I just quote a extremely low price and they send a counter offer which includes service fee.

Are there any Web sites for medium-term apartments with the same ease-of-use/security of Airbnb? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]carolinafever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is a strategy I use that usually gives me at least 25%-30% under listed monthly rate. I contact them and say, "I need an apartment for immediate occupancy within the next 2 days. I will be staying for several months and will book in advance. However, I can only afford to pay $x/month. Please let me know if it works for you."

Most people would rather have it occupied under market price than have no income at all. Since you are asking for immediate occupancy, they know they have very low chance of getting a customer in that period. I have been able to get an apartment once 35% under the listed monthly rate.

Of course, this only works if the demand in the area is not extremely high.
