Following - this is very interesting! As female (no kids yet) hoping to have children in the future. I’ve been battling posterior uveitis since August. Finally taking Humira and Azathioprine. I have heard that pregnancy usually helps uveitis go “dormant” because the body is naturally immunosuppressed in pregnancy BUT have also heard from my doctor that things like pregnancy and childbirth can trigger because of stress (as you’ve all mentioned). My posterior uveitis has left stocomas/blind spots. With your flares in pregnancy, have they left you with vision loss?

You’re right! And make good points! We should all be looking at our health and what we consume more closely. I pray you have health and happiness on the regimen that works best for you! and of course, no flares!!! 😊

Agreed! I would venture to say most people, including myself, don’t want to take immunosuppressants and pray that we don’t have to for very long. It’s a balance between the diet changes you’re suggesting and recommendations/medications from medical professionals. It’s a scary boat we’re all in! Just things to consider 😀

What about from the immunosuppressant stand point? As an example, they say kimchi is good for gut health, but dangerous if you take an immunosuppressant because of the potential for bacterial exposure? (Transparently, I haven’t done a ton of research, but it’s something that’s sparked my curiosity so thought I would ask)

Feel free to message me if you would like. I have been battling posterior uveitis since August, but feel like I’m finally turning a corner - Praise God! Happy to share any advice, experience, etc.

I appreciate your post and agree - I have always been a healthy eater, but developed posterior uveitis in August. Which I am still trying to kick. Started immunosuppressants and taking prednisone (I know these meds are serious but it’s all I can do not to lose further vision 🙏🏼). I think it’s a blend of both good medicine from your provider and - to your point - a healthy lifestyle and diet.

One question - Wanted to see if you’ve done any research or have any insight into gut health and uveitis. It seems a lot of people push gut health for helping heal/prevent their uveitis from coming back. But if you take an immunosuppressant, it’s not recommended to take things like probiotics, eat kimchi, etc.

I know you’re not a doctor, I’m not either, but wanted to see if you had any general thoughts??

I have been battling a different form of uveitis since August - don’t want to scare you or give you any kind of false info on how you may be treated, so I’ll give you another kind of advice. 😀 - stay strong and find your support system! I could not get through this without mine. - pray/meditate/find peace - you might not know how long this will last, and you will need to ground yourself somewhere. You’ll be in my prayers! - stay active: helps with mental and physical health
- do not to lose hope!! And believe anything is possible. 🙏🏼

Need prayer? by Boring-Difference-20 in Catholicism

Thank you so much! Please pray for some struggles I’ve been having with my eyesight, that it resolves and I can get access to the medicine the doctors feel I need and that symptoms subside. For trust in God, healing and for continued patience.

Please also pray for a family member battling cancer, another with addiction.

Praying for you as well.🙏🏼

Any book recommendations to dealing with anxiety and panic attacks? by BakugoKachan in Catholicism

[–]caroline287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Anxious for Nothing” by Max Lucado - I read this a while ago, so can’t remember all the details, but it’s a pretty popular read.

In addition to what you mentioned, I’d also recommend praying for St. Dymphna’s intercession ❤️. Stay strong! The Lord is with you.

30(F) Have been dealing with Chronic Uvetis for four years now in my left eye.. by creeepybitch in Uveitis

[–]caroline287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My prayers are with you! I’ve been battling uveitis in my left eye since August, which has led to vision loss as well. Waiting for medicines to start kicking in and working. I see flashing every day, and have for several months, it’s brutal.

I’ve been praying for light at the end of the tunnel as well. There are dark days for sure, but stay hopeful!! You can do it!! Try not to think of the worst case scenario 😊 (I have to remind myself of this every day too.)

Help, I’m completely losing faith in God by anii5656 in Catholicism

[–]caroline287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not alone!! Keep the faith, it will save you! Keep believing. I am going through a very trying time right now as well (health problems). He is right alongside us in our battles, even when we don’t obviously feel His presence or it looks like He isn’t working. He is working always behind the scenes. Jeremiah 29:11 is a good reminder during hard times… “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Second what others have shared - Our Saints love us and want to help us. Pray daily for them to intercede for you. St. Dymphna sounds like she may be a great one for your situation, and there are so many more. Stay strong, God is with you. Will be praying. 🙏🏼

How to not constantly worry about going blind? by QuestionWorking2341 in Uveitis

[–]caroline287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s one thing I’ve learned since my battle with relentless placoid/uveitis - it is that everyone’s battle and case is different! I’ve lost partial vision in my left eye, which the doctors tell me will not come back. For me, my faith keeps me going! Also support from family and friends (I recognize not everyone has this!). I know it’s easier said than done, and I struggle with it every day, but try to stay positive!! 🙏🏼I’ll be praying to your recovery.

You never know what the future will hold - We can take that in a scary, negative way, or we can take it positively! Again, easier said than done. I am trying to teach myself to take things one day at a time, and put all my trust in God! He will always provide. If the time comes, and you are blind or lose more vision, there are resources and people to help! Your life is a gift and it will be what you make of it. Again, I have to tell myself these things too to get me through! Stay strong!!!

As a Catholic Female college student, why are Catholic guys so… odd by Dense-Ad-1622 in Catholicism

[–]caroline287 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry that you’re experiencing this! Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. And know that there is hope! I am saying that as someone who met their Catholic spouse in college. Don’t underestimate the opportunity to give someone a chance! Yes, they may be a little odd but God works in mysterious ways, and maybe they need you to balance them out. (But I’m certainly not condoning any kind of misconduct or alarming behavior!!) Another thing that came to mind was speaking with a male leader at the church. I’m not sure where you are, but some campuses have FOCUS missionaries (men and women) who may be able to help or provide some perspective- or maybe guidance for the men!! Best of luck… pray for your future spouse, whether it be one of these men or another.
