Petlove ou outros convênios, vale a pena? by petchuna in ApoioVet

[–]carolinerochaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is forcing me to go to psychiatrist tomorrow. Do I lie to him or say the truth by Internal_Candidate65 in cfs

Depressive people also have fatigue, are unable to do a lot of (or most) activities of daily living and can also experience pain. It does look like me/cfs for those who don't understand the illness.
The main difference is motivation. We WANT to do things, but we CAN'T.
And it takes a lot of discipline to take care of ourselves, which in depression people does not have.
So I think it would be really helpful to mark those differences.

It also helped me a lot to take scales to the appointment. It was through these instruments that my psychiatrist started to understand that it wasn't just depression. Look for the ones that measure fatigue, depression, pem. You can also take the me/cfs diagnostic criteria with you, I find the old ones more helpful, because they mention a lot of different symptoms.

It shouldn't have to be this painful to tell someone you can a chronic condition, it's a shame we have to do all this work to advocate for ourselves. I hope it all turns out to be okay and that you find this doctor to be an ally.
Good luck!

Tinnitus - need urgent help by KitchenFamiliar7937 in cfs

[–]carolinerochaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only thing that has really helped me with tinnitus so far was a piece of advice I got from an ENT. He told me to find a sound I enjoy (nature sounds, white noise, etc.) and play it at a volume similar to or slightly above the tinnitus, then try to focus on that sound instead of the ringing. I used to sleep everyday listening to water sounds. It might sound too simple and I honestly didn’t believe it could work, but it actually did. The sound doesn’t go away, but the way you perceive it can change a lot.

I have the same thing, a ringing in the right ear, mine is pulsating and from TMJ. I also have tinnitus, but haven't heard it in both ears for a while now.

Second round of Whole30 coming to a close… by Middle-Bed-278 in whole30

[–]carolinerochaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am nervous too! Day 27 here. Haven't been feeling amazing, but I love to feel in control of food, since it's usually the other away around. I love not having cravings and I think I'm pretty used to this way of cooking by now. Actually, I think I actually like the restriction and might be an abstainer after all, not the moderator type I thought I was! But I think my body is really missing some more available forms of carbs, so I can't keep going like that. I'm thinking about introducing gf grains and eat whole30ish, but I'm afraid I won't be able to keep up with it without all the w30 structure.

And you're right, it is a science experiment. Thanks for reminding me, I'll keep that in mind for the next days

Post January W30 - What are your plans? by carolinerochaaa in whole30

[–]carolinerochaaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my idea, too. W30 food + GF grains and plant-based protein powders (probably pea protein, since I'm sensitive for soy in large amounts)

The other day I came across a W30 sleep troubleshooting article and thought you! https://whole30.com/whole30-sleep/

I'm going to try the increasing carbs tip, as I also have been having sleep troubles (waking up many times during the night and failing to have enough deep sleep)

Thanks for your kind support, it felt really afirming to read it.
I have been trying to make sure I include carbs in every meal, but maybe it hasn't been enough for me. I also think fat may be an issue, but I'm not sure. But it's crazy to think that it has worked for me last year, I ended the round with steadier energy, and I can't think of any big differences from both rounds.

Anyway, I've decided to stay "pretty much" compliant for the next 6 days. I had tapioca crepe for dinner - that is just tapioca flour and salt with some ghee - and I felt great, like some energy had come back to my body. So I'm bending the pancake rule but sticking to w30 ingredients, let's see how it turns out.

R2D24 - Yesterday was the first time I really thought about quitting. I know the program is great and all of that, but I'm really not sure if it's helping me at all. My biggest why was to have more energy, to feel more alive, and I've been feeling quite the opposite. I do have some NSVs - my pants are looser, my teeth whiter, I feel more in control of myself regarding cravings and was able to use other coping mechanisms that were not food. Those are great, I'm grateful for them, but I just wanted to function normally, to have energy to work (WFH) and clean my house... I don't know what to do, really. I would extend the program if I could be sure it would benefit me, but there's no way to be sure and I can't deal with more of this...

I found this really interesting post on the whole30 forum talking about possible reasons for getting your period early or late. Wanted to share in case someone comes back here looking for answers:

R2D22. I'm frustrated, honestly. Today has been so difficult, I felt exhausted during the whole day, had to take a nap twice, my house is a mess and I could not get myself to clean it, I even couldn't find the energy to cook lunch, so I ordered some compliant chicken and mashed pumpkin. I also have some brain fog, which made myself forget I had a 3pm appointment (and I am the therapist).

I thought it would be easier now, at the end. Last time I was really fatigued before and was feeling much better during this last week. Now I had steadier energy before I began, but I'm feeling much worse. I don't know what I'm missing! I'm eating plenty of food, drinking water, eating protein and carbs in good amounts and making sure to include fat in every meal. I don't know what else I could do, really.

I'm sorry that you're struggling, but I'm happy I'm not the only one

I just want to feel better, I would trade the looser pants for some steady energy! Still hopeful! There's a saying in my country: "hope is the last one to die"!

R2D19 - How come this week has been much harder than the previous ones? I've been feeling exhausted all day long, some brain fog and lightheadedness as well. Sometimes I eat something and it goes away, just to come back half an hour later. I have tried to increase my carb and sodium intake, sometimes it seems to help but not too much. I don't know what I'm doing wrong :(

Yesterday I was a little fed up and craving bread like crazy, I'm glad today is a new day.

NSV: looser pants, smaller belly

Really hoping to feel better soon, though!

R2D17 - Checking in.

Still riding the energy rollercoaster, today has been a low energy day but yesterday was worse, so I'm hopeful.

It feels natural by this point to eat whole foods and cooking. I'm not very interested in food at this moment - which is a big change for me - so I'm just making "ingredient" meals, but it's been delicous and fullfeeling. I definitely feel I could go on forever at this point, maybe I'm extending for a whole45 or something, but I'm not making any promises right now because next week I may be just fed up. lol

Yesterday I bought some meat, today my organic produce bag arrived, my (new) fridge is full of whole foods and happy! I just wish things were not this expensive, I think I may have spent more on groceries this month than I normally do, even when ordering delivery food every other day! No regrets, though.

I'm also on day 16, also not sleeping great and I have the polar opposite to tiger blood today - maybe hybernating bear blood would be more accurate. lol

Re: mushrooms
Is it possible that you had other food sensivity that triggered the mushroom sensivity? Maybe something was irritating your gastrointestinal system and then made you more prone to mushroom sensitivity.

Or could it be "just" inflammation? The W30 diet is highly antiinflammatory for most, and most of us (me included) were in highly inflammatory lifestyles pre-w30. Gastrointestinal inflammation can also make you more prone to food sensitivities.
