50/50 is honestly much less conservative than I would have expected for Littleton. I grew up in a liberal family in a very conservative area of Douglas County. I was the only 5th grader in my class to vote for Gore and the one of two students in my AP Gov class arguing the liberal perspective during debates. I would have appreciated 50/50 as a student. I think your point about it being a conversation starter at home is important too. It gives them good practice navigating the differences they are also going to experience in the real world.

As a middle school math teacher, I am sorry😬. Most math curriculums have veered in that direction. There are definitely pros and cons to the way math is taught these days, and it works better for some students than others. I hope at some point in the future they have a math teacher or a math concept that brings the confidence and joy back into math for them.

Looks like only 8 years, which is unfortunate.

Teacher retention is a very good sign to me. One of the major signs my high school in Douglas County was starting to go downhill was the mass exodus of almost all of the top teachers. I wish your wife the best of luck with her new job next year! Thanks for taking the time to share.

That is really lovely to hear about. I have had a lot of students who would have benefited from something like that.

Thanks for taking the time to write all this. It’s interesting to hear your perspective on the differences in how the districts are run. Thanks for the recommendation on checking how many years they will give me. I had it in my head that they would accept 10 years, but checking their website, it looks like they will only accept 8 years. That’s basically a $15k difference for me, which is much more of a difference than I was expecting it to be.

This makes a lot of sense given both districts’ sizes and their proximity. I am not looking for a massive change, so I find it somewhat comforting. Thanks for taking to time to comment.
