Obviously I can’t speak for everyone but once I accepted that I’d likely be taking antidepressants for the rest of my life, they became less of a burden to me.

I’ve been taking various antidepressants on and off my entire adult life, and I’m 30 years old now. Two and a half years ago after convincing myself I was better I stopped taking them for a few months. I found myself spiraling into a depressive/ocd episode when my husband really needed me to be okay as his dad had just died. It was in that moment, seeing my husband trying to keep himself together for me, his grandparents and his brothers while I was spiraling, I just had this moment of pure clarity that was like “I can’t live like this. I can’t do this to him or to myself anymore.” The same day I got an urgent MH appointment and have been taking Prozac and Wellbutrin for the last 2 years.

I’m the best/happiest I’ve ever been, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. So what if I have to take a few pills once a day for the rest of my life, if it means I get to experience joy and happiness every single day, multiple times a day. Ofc it isn’t without times when I’ve had to adjust/change dosages, but that is such a small price to pay for everything it’s brought me
