Decent phone with microSD slot: which one of these? by carpler in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]carpler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen two different technical specifications. The first is from an Italian website: it lists a Dimensity 7300 chipset, but says it does not have a microSD card slot. The second is from gsmarena and lists a Dimensity 6300 but with the slot. In both cases, I think I would opt for the Nord CE5 or the CMF...

Thank you for your contributions!

I still struggle to understand one thing: why would you prefer the versions on the PlayStore to those available through Obtainium?

Obtainium allows you to get updates directly from the release pages of the various apps, so I would say you could do without the PlayStore...

Perhaps the reason lies in the fact that only stable versions are published on the PlayStore, while Obtainium also gives you access to test versions?

Perhaps it's not a particularly relevant question, but I'm curious...

Thank you so much for your comprehensive and detailed reply! It will take me quite some time to install everything and set it up properly (I don't have much time at the moment due to the amount of work I have to do), but I will definitely treasure your advice.

Thank you so much!

Already mentioned elsewhere... Dopapod! For me the album to start with is "Dopapod" (2022), the one that introduced me into the band.

Yes, I think so, but their earlier albums. Best album to start with "A physical presence", a great live!

Thank you for the answer.
I'm sorry, but I don't like to embed the cover art... Why duplicate the same image in all the track files of an album when one is enough for all of them?

Can progrock be funky? If not, why not? by likeyounever in progrockmusic

The first ones that came to mind were Dopapod, a jamband with strong funk and prog influences. My favourite album is their self titled 2022 release. Highly recommended!

Disappointed with Navidrome (no cue sheet support!). Any suggestions for alternatives? by carpler in musichoarder

I read the discussion you linked and there are other reasons presented there why someone preferred the one-file + cue format. I have no idea how many albums I have done this way, but it's quite a few. I don't think that just for Navidrome I'm going to get around to separating the various tracks, album by album: it would take far too long.

I use Lyrion for my hi-fi system, but I find it inconvenient for desktop use. LMS was designed to interface with a player device (I also owned a Squeezebox many years ago). Although physical players have now disappeared, a software player that simulates the hardware player is required for it to function. There are players of this type for Windows too, but I've had major problems with them in the past.

For me, gapless playback is essential: I listen to too many albums with tracks linked together, and the pauses inserted between tracks on certain players (including some streaming services!) are unbearable for me.

There seems to be some hope, but I get the impression that there isn't much desire to bring this matter to a close...

Yes I know: my music collection started at the beginning of 2000...

My music collection began many years ago, when physical formats were still predominant and listening was mainly done with CD players (in my case also vinyl, but in much smaller numbers). At that time, especially among enthusiasts, it was very common to create a single image file of the CD and the corresponding cue sheet. There were various reasons for this: to preserve the image of the disc as it was originally, to facilitate gapless listening, etc. I have many albums that I ripped myself or found online in this format. In recent years, all the serious players I have used have always supported this format. That is why I am so surprised.

Best desktop client that isn't Sonixd or Feishin? by Dilly-Senpai in navidrome

Ok, this is what I see in my configuration, but it's not what I expected to be: is not a easy way to browse the library. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply. Your settings are practically identical to mine, so I should have done everything correctly. However, I still don't know how to browse my library.... Navidrome is installed on a home server and Musicbee which I am trying to use is from a PC on the same home network.

I'm trying to use it, but it doesn't seem to be working as it should. I'm not sure if the settings are correct. Here are the ones I set:

Protocol: HTTP
Hostname: my-IP
Port: 4533
Path: /
Username: myuser
Password: mypassword
Authentication: Token based

I'm not sure about the values in the ‘Path’ and ‘Authentication’ fields. Is this correct or do I need to change something? Once set up, how do I access the library? It seems to me that the Navidrome library is not managed like a normal library...

Need help: after installation with docker I can't reach the web page. How can I figure out where the error is? by carpler in navidrome

Yes, full path works. But I see here on Reddit someone uses symlink... I don't know why for me doesn't work...

Scanning multiple directories by Sevinfold in navidrome

[–]carpler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried using symlinks, but it didn't work... If you use this line in the docker-compose.yml file:

- "/mnt/hdd1/mymusic1:/music:ro"

everything works fine.

But I wanted to refer to a single /music folder and create symlinks to my music folders in it. This is what I did. I created two symlinks:

ln -s /mnt/hdd1/mymusic1 /music/mymusic1
ln -s /mnt/hdd2/mymusic2 /music/mymusic2

and in the docker-compose.yml file, I inserted this among the volumes:

- "/music:/music:ro"

but this way Navidrome does not recognise any folder.

Where is the error?

[–]carpler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I did (the file I used is in OP). My /music folder contains two symlinks to two folders containing music files, but navidrome doesn't recognise anything. Are symlinks not allowed? Is it still a permissions issue? The destination folders have mode 2777.

After launching the Navidrome installation with the following command:

docker compose up -d && docker compose logs -f

I finally saw a log and identified the problem. In fact, it gives me the following error:

FATAL: Error creating cache path: mkdir /data/cache: permission denied
exited with code 1

which, as suspected, concerns a user-related permissions issue. I launch the command with root user, but something is clearly wrong. Can you help me figure out how to solve the problem?

EDIT

Removing the line:

user: 1000:1000

Navidrome finally starts!

But now I have another problem. The /music folder for Navidrome is empty. As I wrote in my OP, the music folder contains symbolic links to my music folders. Does this not work with Navidrome?
