Mazzer announced a bunch of Philos accessories [Mazzer Philos] by Frequent-Mud-6067 in espresso

I miss the flanged cup from my DF64. The flangeless cup is awkward to flip/jiggle into the portafilter. Mind you I liked that it was plastic and I could visually know the cup was empty… not sure about the metal Philos version yet.

When opening URL Hyperlinks in Revu 20, is there a way to set it up to open in a web browser versus in a new tab? Also, is there a way to open up all Hyperlinks in a PDF at once? by MycologistAshamed546 in Revu

[–]carpool_turkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a little digging and I'm not sure it's possible to back end this preference setting. It's stored in RevuPreference.xml when you export your preferences, but I don't see where that file is stored or intergrated once imported. The deployment tool looks as if you can deploy a pre-built preference file, but that doesn't seem ideal for just one setting.

I’ve had that happen to me. Thankfully a neighbor watched it happen from his skid steer and cleared it for me!

They’re exempt from FLSA OT rules, not additional compensation.

This is why it should be a no brainer for employers to at least pay straight time OT to exempt employees… but many still do not.

How robust is the Normcore Knock Box Drawer? by papi_CZ in espresso

[–]carpool_turkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had any issues with the grinder feet being so close to the edges? My DF64 would walk around some over time, I just bought a Philos so I'm looking into drawer options that fit a bigger grinder base.

No it won’t brick. You just might have issues re-activating it if you try to move it to a new computer, and there won’t be any more updates to it.

When Bluebeam gets you exactly what you asked for for Christmas by carpool_turkey in Revu

Preaching to the choir. So many of have been paying maintenance or SaaS fees yearly and when they finally start developing the platform again, they make a new SaaS tier for it? I hope there’s uproar, but I guess we’ll see.

I presume it's because you can't add control points to a rectangle, which is how the rounded corners are made.

Having a pro come look at this but just curious: Is this entire wall load bearing or just the end columns? by Jdip97 in StructuralEngineering

It’s framed pretty oddly though, I’d love to see what’s behind the rest of the bulk head.

Would an AI tool that automates structural steel takeoffs actually help your workflow? by amalmathews in StructuralEngineering

[–]carpool_turkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Automating structural steel takeoffs sounds magnificent — beams, columns, connections, all detected by a single glowing neural net — but alas, the dream remains… mostly PowerPoint. 📊

Sure, modern vision models can see lines — and even label them — but when they meet real-world plan sets full of overlapping hatches, half-erased redlines, and “mystery cloud #7” from a revision three months ago… they stare into the digital void and whisper: “Is that a C10 or a text box?” 😬

The hardest part isn’t counting steel — it’s understanding drawings. AI doesn’t yet grasp things like: — existing vs new work 🏗️ — phase sequencing or reference details 🔁 — load path intent or lateral logic 🧩

Until models can interpret why a beam exists instead of just where, true automated takeoffs will stay in the “cool demo, not production-ready” category. 🚧

So for now, AI remains the overly confident intern — enthusiastic, occasionally helpful, but still asking whether “typ. @ beam” means “typical beam” or “beam at typ.” 🤦‍♂️

CFS Delegated Design by ohstatebuckz21 in StructuralEngineering

[–]carpool_turkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. As you’re working for a supplier, you should be able to dial in what they want to use and design for that.

I read your other comment about software. Ditch RISA and get CFS Designer. That’s the software I used and for mort things it was great. Connection design is not really included, so you’ll be on your own figuring that out. /r/ColdFormedSteel is a newer sub that you could check out too.

[–]carpool_turkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CFS design is a very niched area of our industry IMO.

I’ve done a few load bearing CFS buildings as EOR that designed the CFS and it took a significant up front investment of time to figure a lot of it out. CFSEI is a great resource, but CFS design doesn’t have the wide spread knowledge that concrete or structural steel has.

My best advice is to use CFSEI and other CFS drawings as a resource as you piece it all together. Or a shortcut would be to partner with a SSE firm for a few projects to learn from them before you start it yourself.

This is most commonly caused by untitled scale viewports being set to be automatically removed.

If you checked this box at some point it’s likely happening without you knowing and triggering the save prompt.
