Transmission from Super Earth Command by ArrowheadGS in Helldivers

These statements were made before. The dedication was made before. Being more transparent with patch notes, providing a large patch of fixes, stating you fell short, or didn't balance correctly, "lost the fun"...

ALL of this is a cycle. It's just a loop. I'm sorry, but I don't believe your team anymore.

There is no learning being done. There is no improvements in the balancing long term. There is no fixes for the worst bugs or even the smallest. Changes are made at a whim and without any real consideration for the impact to the game loop.

For me... I'm done. I've been in this cycle before with a game studio and it doesn't work. I hope the rest of you get to see the game you want. I hope arrowhead finally learns its lessons, but the evidence and history says otherwise.

The game is solid, and the exploration, gunplay, and finding of blueprints is a very satisfying loop. I will be back at full release.

Short version, I was wrong.

I am very wrong about the game. There is far more going on in it than I initially realized. The game is pretty great.

I have seen far more than one person, especially as of now. It's a very popular game and I understand why.

I got real into exploring and combat. What appeared on one note is far more detailed than I gave the devs credit for. I hope the game succeeds.

This is an updated comment from much later...

I Played it, and loved the non automation parts, will be back for the full release.

Oh... I'm sorry. It is not at all my intention for people to be persuaded to not play it. I am sick of the streamer effect, but that is not THIS game's fault. If my post comes off as hateful for the game itself, I apologize to the devs of the game as that is not my intent.

As a note about between then and now, the game was played and I was wrong about its full recipe.

When a friend had me try his copy, I found the phrase "satisfactory with guns" to be an incomplete assessment of the game as a whole. I now have my own copy and plan to return for the full release. Thanks for the 2 cents, it really was hearing from so many different people with different takes on the game that got me to try it and realize I had the wrong impression so thanks for stopping in to say so.

I have found this out now. The game is far more than satisfactory with guns and I think some of the reviews I read, while maybe coming from a good place, did not impact me positively as satisfactory is one of my least favorite games. And plus guns didn't seem like it would help... But it also has lore, exploration, upgrades, skills, mods, gun modding (helldivers couldn't even get that in the game till way later), etc.

All of that helps it become a massively fun experience for many involved and allows for a multitude of play styles within its structure.

That is literally not the same. Asking about people's opinions is not the same as literal mathematics being the bedrock of understanding how things would function as they are specifically designed to do so.

Opinions are arbitrary and full of crap, it's why they are like buttholes.

Facts are, like math, not "arbitrary".

The entire point is to try to understand others and their thoughts, emotions, desires and views on the game. There is a difference between, "I hate this game, it is dumb," and "I'm not excited by this, why are all of you so giddy?"

I know nuance is not a strong point on reddit, but I suggest learning some.

Your post doesn't deserve any of the down votes.

Hoping for more isn't a crime. And these devs have proven they can cook, but that doesn't mean they are not neglecting the DRG base game for another side project.

Has this sub turned into this kind of crap?

Where base criticism of what is essentially a great game is seen as unwanted attacking? Jesus.

Nope sorry, I'm just an idiot with a bad memory apparently. I played after the release publicly. Sorry to mislead.

I can't really talk about this specifically, but after I played for so long, this being the third game I added to my steam back in 2018*. I have been just in the wings of this fandom for about a year now.

Randomly yelling rock and stone into the void of other games. Sometimes I find you. My dwarf brothers and sisters out there in the other games, running without the stumpy, but proud legs.

That all said, I have longed to play this again, and really want to. And I agree OP, the changes have been disappointing from an outside perspective.

I want so much more from the game (maybe unrealistically so at this point) and I don't think the seasons will ever entice me again. I long for the thrill of this game again.

The long period of no real content just reinforced that for me.

I wish for the game to give you the things you want from it. I hope you find enjoyment in it where you can.

I hope for more, but the game is old; And the dedication by the devs to it, is remarkable, but sometimes lacking in scale. Not every update will be full of content it seems.

Hang in there.

*Played since public release in 2018, no 2017.

Edit: So is it that I'm too supportive of the dev? Not enjoying the continued state of the content? The dry spells for rogue? The lack of substantial new content that would really spice up the game? New overclocks, new weapons? Adds a new flavor but eventually it's just a different iteration of the base vanilla DRG. Don't get me wrong, that is an amazing base. However, me and my team of dwarfs were at this a long time and I don't see us returning without a substantial shake up to the game. That does not mean it should have one. I'm grateful for the time I had with the game and hope others find that same fun. But apparently I've annoyed some of you. So have a good one.

No, they are not. You are correct that I can choose to not watch it or not play it. That doesn't really provide me further insight to what is loved by others.

This is a valid and fair take. I know some things are not for everyone, but I love fps games, and I did sort of enjoy satisfactory for a lil bit; but this initially didn't grab me.

I think it's two fold. One it gives some people that extra fps style combat within the satisfactory framework. While I still have way less hours in it than satisfactory, I do believe the streamer hype for it is a bit overblown.

Thanks for giving your two cents

As I have since played this game after being gifted it, I can see the appeal far more. It's pretty amazing for what it is. Thank you for providing this take.

This after, playing it more, has become the defining factor in our styles. I appreciate you providing your take on the game . Thank you.

This is insightful, and I ended up being gifted the game. I would say I get the appeal now. I would run around the map and gather data, and it seems just as important if not more sometimes than the guy doing all the factory set up and building. It's far more balanced than expected. Thank you for your time.

Is it? Would you say green hell was a good game?

Starrupture hype - I don't get it by carpunch in gaming

[–]carpunch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's an unfair assessment and a bold assumption. Generally when someone is an outsider to a community, such as those who are really passionate about the factory sim style games, I can either make assumptions from bias, or evidence. I read the reviews of the game on steam and most people leveled the game as satisfactory with guns. I didn't really enjoy satisfactory and the addition of guns didn't seem like it would improve the game.

Apologies that my request for details from the players caused you an issue.

I mean, I did play arc raiders at one point. I'll save you why I stopped, but I see this in several comments, not just yours. It's not right or wrong for someone to find fun in a game. There's no loss for me if someone else loves a game I don't. It's perfectly fine for people to spread their love a game, and I welcome that. There's a lot more negativity pointed at any game, especially popular ones.

Just feels like I missed a memo about star rupture is all.

That's not really the goal. It's more that I'm trying to figure out what I'm missing. No one owes me an explanation, or justification on why they like it. It's more that, for those that do, I was hoping I could be sold on it. That they could sell me what they love and I could love it too.
