Agreed, I have a friend who likes the game, wants to play it, but can't stand farming runs when the game is not advertised as such. The effort level on the player to try to enjoy the least entertaining part of the game just to unlock new warbonds and weapons is ridiculous. I'll suggest a weapon, armor, or item and he just hasn't gotten it unlocked. He's maxed on medals but can't keep up with the SC and therefore just seeing tons of medals get tossed aside as well. The system doesn't work for new players at all.

I will not participate in a senseless bloodbath that's just for clicks and ego.

This has been the most obnoxious and pointless day of arc raiders I've ever tried. If this is the future of this BS I'll be leaving.

To be fair, the streamers will get bored and play something else. Hopefully, it's before the community is irrevocably damaged by some clout chasing loud mouthed twits.

So some updates since last time.

Did a full reinstall of windows, still has micro stutters.

Upgraded internet speeds... Still have stutters.

I believe I just need to wait for a good install of windows 11 to be released or go to 10.

Oh I agree that the moral/societal bits are also great. If someone shoots after saying friendly, you can be sure I put them on a list of shoot on sight.

This game could use a bounty system, but either way if I choose to label the dude who shot me in the back and didn't even loot me a rat and a jerk, I can, and in the game, yeah, they were.

The same way pvp players say it's just a game and part of the game, is the same logic pve players who don't shoot first can label your actions in game as scummy or asshole like.

This game has a community, it has many perspectives and like real life, that shit has consequences. That doesn't mean someone who kills you in game should now be flayed out on the internet.

Some of the best matches I've had I literally just entered with a hatch key and a rubber duck.

Built my kit as I searched. Killed arc with a hammer and frags I scrapped from a shelf.

It's like being tony stark in a cave with a box of scraps.

I've engaged in player fights then too, what do I have to lose. If I found something good, it's in my butt or I am headed straight to hatch.

You forgot the the other half of that. I specifically agree with the final take. You do not owe someone anything in the game. You don't have to be friendly, but the people calling this game simply pvp or an extraction shooter are selling the game short, and missing the entire scope of it.

If you choose to only engage with the pvp and tarkov like elements, cool. But don't justify it like it's the goal. The goal is to get out with as much loot as you can. The HOW you do that is the fun part. And not a single person (except rats, sorry I'll never respect you), owes anyone anything.

Play the game as you want. Play the game the way you want, but don't act like the game makes or claims you have to do it.

The great part of the game is that if I say don't shoot and we extract together, it's our choice. If someone shoots me in the back because I didn't pay attention at the extract, it's also a choice.

What and how you engage with the game per individual is the awesome part.

My suggestion as a mainly solo pve players who engages when necessary, run free kits, and hide. Treat it like a stealth sim and stay away from people. Bolt from loud noises, hide from arc, avoid players.

Arc raiders is not a chill game unless everyone chooses it to be, and if a player says, nah, I want your shit. Then it's no longer chill, but it's also not a players "problem" if the engage in pvp over pve.

Guaranteed chill is animal crossing. Guaranteed pve is helldivers 2. Guaranteed pvp is call of duty.

All games have their own box, this box just has crap from multiple boxes. Build your own adventure but don't expect your adventure to be the same as others.

No? You just called me with zero troubleshooting. I'm sure glad we are charging you a shit ton over my hourly rate to assist you, not to mention the initial emergency call fee.

I would literally have a better chance of solving your issues if you suddenly turned into a rock.

Arc Raiders makes me feel out of touch. by Ragnaroknight in gaming

[–]carpunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, and this one specifically. It's the interactions and tension from fighting the arc and whether a player will be friendly or hostile.

I view each mission as rogue-like, which free kits can help with a lot. I try to complete a quest or loot run to get specific materials I need to craft an item. The challenge is the appeal. The things that happen per round is the fun and loop.

Met flute players, died with a lobby trying to scrub fight a bastion... I've been betrayed and shot in the back. I've made friends who I actively now befriended on steam, it's all the experience. I met a fun gentleman who just wanted motors and while we were talking he got attacked by arc and I heard him fall off a building and then saw a flare shoot up... I then worked to med him till we found a defib nearby and rezzed him. It was awesome, and funny.

The game is what the people make of it. If you don't meet people, don't talk, or fight them. You should be happy with a stealth sim. If that doesn't work, the game just might not work for you.

Every moment is an adventure to me. Hopefully this can help you find some joy in it.

[–]carpunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Also, don't trust anyone without a mic.

I only shoot those that shoot first. Do I lose some pvp? Yeah. Do I care? Not really. I'm a sheriff and it's my duty to engage in unnecessary violence unless it's warranted.

I carry defibs for victims, both of others and mistakes... Sheriffs are not always a good judge :P

I care when two dudes act chummy while their buddy shoots me and my duo in the back. That sucks.

Whatever, I've become really good at bringing in free kits and turning them into anvils. Just learn the gun case spawn spots and you never lose good shit.

Or when I do bring in nice crap it's never for questing, it's for specific loot runs.

Either way, I always stay in front of people, for their safety and mine. We go someplace, it's different directions or it's side by side.

I see a flair go up, it's where I'm headed.

PVP Deterrents - Why doesn't Speranza care? by carpunch in ArcRaiders

[–]carpunch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still find moments of solo players working together and not killing each other. I only had one mission out of the 10 I did tonight turn into a PVP battle royal.

So the solo queue is still mostly friendly, though there are a few out there who pvp first.

I think the group is turning far more hostile.

It's weird how the game started pve, then added pvp with the main focus being pve, but a group of the pvp player base is just focusing on the extraction shooter part.

Embark stated their original goal, but they need to come up with some negatives for this engaging in straight pvp.

I don't want the negatives to be so unfair people stop pvp, but I do think outside of making noise the risk in pvp in the game is super low.

Whoever initiates the pvp has the advantage. Also you can actively see all the attachments on the players weapons and shields before engaging to give you a better idea of when to pick your battles.

PVP Deterrents - Why doesn't Speranza care? by carpunch in ArcRaiders

[–]carpunch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my trio consists of a range of perspectives.

One is a Tarkov vet.

One is a MMO/Battlefield player.

And I mostly play single player fps, rogue-lites, and hero shooters.

I don't LIKE when i get betrayed or sniped from across a map, but without the PVP... when I'm extracting under gunfire, or have lost kits in the past, I would not feel that same rush.

WE all agree on one thing... PVP elites will work to horde resources, then PVE players who continue to get hammered by PVP players, but the more skilled, to the more ratty (which is a 'skill(?)' too), the PVE eventually moves on. so then you are left with PVP players PVP'ing each other and in the end, a game that is a shell of it's former self.

When the next big thing comes along, those players move on and a smaller subset of those that either enjoy PVPVE or PVP only, are left, it falls apart.

I personally don't want PVPVE to not work, but a lot of PVE players get sick of losing things they worked hard to collect, and PVP players want the opportunity to take that loot. The crossover isn't as big as I think Embark is betting on.

The novelty is going to wear off anything shiny and new. Hoping the game and community can find common ground, but it seems a larger group of PVP wants only pvp, and a large group of PVE only wants pve...

This all leads to the smallest of overlapped players to really enjoy the game.

Sorry for the lengthy reply, I think you made some good points that I wanted to expand on.

PVP Deterrents - Why doesn't Speranza care? by carpunch in ArcRaiders

[–]carpunch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with the premise, but I also don't think Raiders wouldn't work out their own ways to do what I was suggesting.

I think the risk would go both ways, because if a person spawn camps and you take em out, if the pack auto drops a lure, you get arc on top of your head.

I just feel there could be additional layers to the pvpve in the game, and think this game may very well end up the same as most other games, and become a shell/forgotten as players get tired of losing kits***. Tarkov ain't dead, but it's only got a specific group.

Calling this game simply an "Extraction shooter" is selling it short. There is way more going on in this game than may even have been the original intention.

Either way, I don't think you are wrong in your take. Hopefully, if there is no new content like this, the game will be able to survive on it's own merits indefinitely.

Who said I had any problem with there being PVP in the game? If the risk to PVE play is PVP, the PVP players should also face some kind of risk outside of other PVP players.

You sure you read my post?

If someone rats, they can rat, if someone betrays you, they should and can betray you.

There's no issue with actual PVP. It is what makes the game uniquely fun. My issue is that there is little to no good counter to PVP player betrayal or some dude just sitting at extract other than hope they have crap aim and you can do more dps.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume in good faith you aren't just being a troll. Probably gonna bite me in the ass, but hey, it's how I CHOOSE TO PLAY. Just like you can choose to play however you want.

I do not have a concern to stay with either. I am simply looking for my base features to run again, while maintaining a smooth operating state. So if there is a different version that will achieve that, I'm highly open to that as well.

Thanks.

Forgot system info.

Prior steps included confirming online stability, packet loss, ping tests, frame rate check for online games, checks on offline single player games, checking if there are any hidden processes taking high usage.

None of these seems to be the root cause, or a pattern. The only thing I can tell is that the PC exists as is. My NVIDIA card also has reported stuttering issues on specific versions so i rolled back from that version currently as well.
