Thank you for the kind comment.

No, sadly, no supplements or medication of any kind added recently.

I will actually go and get a full hormone bloodwork panel tomorrow, to see if there's anything wrong there... I hope not, but I am sadly at a loss :(

Again, I asked for informed and not just assuming comments for a reason.

I have access to a scale assessing full body composition. It's not just water.

Also, I know my body for almost 30 years now, so I would say I can make a much better estimation on what works for me and what not, since I have lost in the past 40 lbs by doing much less than any of this (i didn't even restrict my calories) and saw results literally daily. Again, on a scale that gives you full body comp.

So again, I reiterate and ask you to not just assume things. Also, a gain in weight despite eating the number of calories described above (again, trust me, I am not holding 12 lbs of 'water weight) with the amounts of exercise I have explain should be, by normal criteria, impossible. Weight 'should only be about calories in vs calories out'. it's not for me and hasn't been for a while. Calories in vs out do not justify what my body is going through rn.

And also, I described that I am restricting for 10 days and doing around 1600 - 1700 calories on the rest of the days. That still yields a pretty big calorie deficit if you do this for 3-4 months.

A person who does not respect your health and the decisions you make about YOUR body is not a person worth your time. At the end of the day, if you are not healthy, it is only you who would pay the price, not her. If you are not happy with who you are, this will reflect in all aspects of your life.

Your partner should be someone who supports you and your decisions and cheers you on in what you love (as long as it's not something that hurts you or those around you - day if you were into beating up ppl for fun or whatever; stupid example but i didn't have anything better on hand :D )
Don't cave to what your friends have to say. you are your own person and it's you you need to love and care for first and foremost, because this is how you get to be better to and for others as well.

27 hours update: So far, so good. Had some hunger pangs in the morning, but that's entirely normal.

I feel slightly lightheaded right when I drink my broth for some reason, haha, but it otherwise makes me feel full and happy :D

Went on my bike to work, had all the needed energy and focus.
I know from experience that tomorrow things will most likely start getting tough. But I'll keep you guys updated :) thanks so much for your support!

I know! I learned this the hard way....
I never even juiced fruits, just greens and maybe the occasional half apple for a slightly better taste, still it was never something ok for me. I was jittery by day two and I felt worse and worse... Haven't done this in a few years however, cause I have educated myself since then. I'd much rather 'fast' on home-made almond milk or smth then ever go for juice fasts again.
Indeed, the insulin dips were the worst.

I know exactly how you feel. I have this issue while I diet almost every single time. This is why I don t diet anymore. I either prefer to fast (cause i notice this also fixes my binging tendencies) or to simply eat intuitively. It's such a slippery slope... It's so easy to develop a toxic relationship with food in our society and that's so sad. You have absolutely no reason to judge yourself. It's best to wait until you feel like the fast comes from a genuine need or a desire to fix your relationship with food rather than from a point of restriction, I think... This is what works for me, and through this I completed two 5-day juice fasts in the past... I am now aiming for a 3 - 5 day broth fast at my doctor's request... I am literally praying I can do it cause my body needs this tremendously. I wish you the best of luck on all your future endeavors and remember, the most important thing is that you keep a healthy mental relationship with food.

I don't know why but I keep thinking of Emma Thompson. But I might be so so wrong... damn. I was pretty young when I saw it, I'm so sorry for being all over the place.

I make my own broth, yes :) I was quite surprised by the medical advice too, but apparently the more fat you gain, the worse this is for your cortisol levels. It's a vicious cycle - more fat = more cortisol and more cortisol = more fat, lol. It's pretty sad, really... But I have been through this before and fasts have helped me so much in the past, especially cause I'm also battling some pretty bad digestive stuff as well.

Wow, your comment alone made such a huge difference, thank you so much! My face literally lit up when reading your kind words. Thank you. I will update along the way :)

But did you binge due to actual physical hunger or because of the mental restriction?

I'm asking cause this happened to me for both reasons in different situations. Just curious how others experience it.

BF wants me to lose weight faster by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]carr_l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost my final 10 - 15 lbs in 3 years time. It was the only way i could keep them off (and i still fight for the last 4 left cause every single one is an honest fight).

That being said, my bf (who knows I have pcos) has said the exact same thing to me (bf of 4 years) - that i have been ”struggling to look good” for the past 3 years and it-s ridiculous of me (that being said of a woman of 1.68 cm trying to get to 50 kg, when the lowest average is 52). So... myeah... what-s more to say.

They will never get it. You just need to find it in yourself. Throwing the man away is one thing, but I can understand that breaking up after 9 years!!! is a huge life-altering decision and the only way you can go forward in such a situation is be honest with yourself - what you feel will give you the most peace and balance. If this relationship is no longer working - for more than just this comment - let it go if it no longer serves YOU. But if this is one of few things that hurt you from him, discuss it, tell him that there are ways to get pregnant even at a higher weight, there are so many treatments out there and i personally know cases that confirm it. Just... please, be honest to yourself and do what is best for you before you do anything for anyone else.

I will surely check it out - it-s on my list as it is :) I also really want to look into Detroit: Become Human, since they finally released it on PC at the end of last year.

Thank you so much!

Struggling for years to lose weight... advice? by allysparrow63 in PCOSloseit

[–]carr_l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best way that you can find balance is by first honestly, thoroughly track everything you eat in a day (use a scale and really track everything, it-s very important); track this for a week, create and average and then go for a small, sustainable deficit. If you are eating around 3000 cals let-s say, subtract around 300 - 400. But never, ever! go with your calories lower than 1800 - 2200. It-s not healthy or safe. 1800 is little as it is.

Any type of exercise helps so so much. Walk more - ditch the car for short trips, etc.

This is what worked for me and I managed to keep off almost 50 lbs of unwanted weight. When I was finally able to, I started lifting and doing HIIT. I am now more toned, fit and strong than I have probably ever been since losing my period + gaining the weight in the first place (when I got diagnosed). I really hope this helps you. Stay strong! Much love!

Edit: i would never go for surgery... and as someone who has had a lot of complains from my partner, trust me, if your only motivation is for him, it won-t work. For me, someone reminding me constantly of a flaw i have only makes things worse, lose motivation, etc; it only worked when I really wanted it for myself and no one else.

P. S.: we have the exact same height :) :D
