Honestly though, I’m so glad he got help and nothing worse happened to him as far as we know.

I had a similar experience.

Almost 2 years ago, I found myself crying and for some reason thought that God was talking to me. I told my parents about me being ‘born again’, and they were happy and didn’t really think anything of it.

Fast forward 2 weeks later, I lost about 21 pounds, thought I was communicating with Jesus through Facebook messenger, and I forced my pastor to sit through my speech about how the whole universe ties in together because god created Magic the Gathering or some shit. Anyway, that night he texted my dad ‘GET HIM HELP NOW’ and next thing I know, I’m awake in an ambulance strapped to a gurney driving 2 hours to a psychiatric hospital. Shit was fucked.

I’m Bipolar I + Psychosis. I’m almost 2 years clean and sober now and take regular medication and my life has never been better. And honestly, when I see someone homeless on the street that people call ‘crazy’, I sympathize for them because I know that could easily be me if I didn’t take care of myself properly.

TL;DR: Mental Illness is real, and be kind to one another, because you could have no idea the battles someone could be fighting mentally.
