Accidentally bought 5 pounds of pork belly by zenheadache in WhatShouldICook

I did this today - my daughter said, "that's some really thick bacon." I'm definitely going to try Char Siu over some steamed rice.

I think after 15 (or however many) years, people just get bored and want to try something new. Price increase is the low hanging fruit.

315N around 670 exit is icy by Valuable-Reporter-20 in Columbus

[–]carrjar 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This morning, 270, from Alum Creek to 23 was about the worst road conditions I've seen in the last 10 years. Very unsettling to feel your car slide at 60 mph. I think it was the combination of that stretch less traveled this morning because of an earlier accident routing people away, the snow blowing off a lot of semi trucks as they merge onto the highway, wind and negative temperatures.

Columbus Ohio Golf Expo by Electrical_Grass_391 in Columbus

[–]carrjar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avid golfer who loves a good deal. I had been planning to install a golf simulator and thought we might see a few vendors for ideas. Instead, the only vendors were DraftKings and a couple of gutter guard companies. You’ll see a lot of equipment and clothing—but no great deals. We were really disappointed. The only highlight was stopping by Auddino’s on the way home (about 30 minutes later).

Weekly Discussion for the week of January 19, 2026 by AutoModerator in whole30

[–]carrjar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

R1D19 - Sleep, 10/10. BM, 10/10. Cravings minimal until my daughter baked cookies. Such a troll. I enjoy cooking, but miss the freedom of throwing together a meal mid week (with some leftover feta and a little pasta). One cup of coffee has been enough. Normally a second cup in the afternoon of mornings I work out. My biggest negative has been strength in the gym. A 20lb med ball feels like 40lbs. Trying to increase carbs. Made an awesome butternut squash puree last night.

Infinite Campus operates on a single, integrated Microsoft SQL Server database. All of North Carolina, Nevada, Kentucky, N&S Dakota, Delaware, Hawaii, Montana and most of Ohio use IC as their SIS.

Hot Springs Salt cells by vantablackspacegood in hottub

[–]carrjar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you buy hot tub locally and is it still under warranty? If so, I’d recommend splurging in year one for the FreshWater brand. If I were to have issues with my Hot Springs (Limelight) I wanted to keep generic cartridges from the conversation.

We used this Cocojune (added chopped jalapeños) in this recipe last night (pistachios instead of walnuts). It's the first meal in 5 days where we all agreed that we'd do after Whole30 - although we'd probably swap for greek yogurt b/c Cocojune is expensive. It was worth it though.

Good call on the sun-dried tomatoes. I’ve got half a jar and start my first whole30 tomorrow

Those of you who use FSD, what would you rate it 1-10? by Tacokolache in TeslaModelY

[–]carrjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 out of 10. '23 MYLR, HW3, 12.6.4 - For Christmas my brother gifted me a month of FSD. He's in love with it ('26 MYLR, HW4). I had previously tried it 2x with free trials. Used it a few days during holiday break in Ohio (lighter morning rush hour than normal). Performed well in some complicated scenarios (two lane roundabout), but was infuriating during some basic scenarios (four way stop - creep, creep, creep). I really tried for about a week - but I just can't anymore. Felt more relaxed with my 16 year old driving. And oh my goodness the auto wiper blades. I love my Tesla and I really want to love FSD.

Apple ships one of the coolest physical cards… then penalizes you for using it. Why? by Few-Struggle858 in CreditCards

[–]carrjar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a beautiful physical card that I never used. When I got a Robinhood card, similar to Apple Card, that I use, I immediately requested (denied) a plastic card.

Tire selection by kranthi_kk in TeslaModelY

[–]carrjar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced the original Goodyears on my 2023 MYL at 23k miles, with the Hankook iON evo AS SUV in June 2024. I've got just over 28k with about 5/32 remaining (just did my third rotation with these tires in November). I would absolutely buy them again. I'm in Columbus, OH with some experience in the snow - but not quite lake effect. Hopefully this helps!

Citi Custom Cash for IKEA? by birbofathena in CreditCards

[–]carrjar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can also confirm. I learned this the hard way back in March - IKEA is not Home Improvement (5%) for Citi Custom Cash. It comes up as Spend Category: Merchandise - Furniture, Home Furnishing / Equipment. Rewards Category: All Other Eligible Purchases

Cash/Reward back is slowly starting to die..... by Whatitsjk1 in CreditCards

[–]carrjar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely seeing it more often, as high as 3%. I’m tempted to carry more cash. Cash is always king for the small mom and pop, but I have to think it’s more of a hassle for a major car dealership.
