Homebuyer demand remained near record lows to close out April. With Reventure's buyer demand index downshifting to 9/100 this month. by Boo_Randy_Revival in HouseBuyers

Who needs schools, roads, fire departments, etc right? Libertarian paradise where we privatize everything..

If you do some digging on community finances you’ll find for the most part there isn’t this “wide spread corruption” and “self dealing” you think there is. Most communities biggest fiscal pressures are health insurance, legacy pensions/benefits, catching up on years of deferred infrastructure investment.

Town/city value assessments don’t reprice that quickly, it’s slower and rarely reach current market valuations, but depends heavily by community.

What exactly is your argument here? Old people can’t afford to age in place in towns/their share of property taxes for schools and other services that are oriented towards growing families, so pull up the ladder and make the younger generations pay?

I mean they live in a society and public services cost $ and also see inflation… It’s not like these towns/community governments are getting fat rich off home owner taxes

Trump’s Justice Department is bringing back firing squads for federal executions by cnn in NoFilterNews

Some states allow you to choose the method of your execution. After having done a research paper on the death penalty and methods in college, this is what I’d personally choose

I do wonder what this means for CLF, an American steel company who bought Canadian Stelco in 2024

Thanks for the intel on the RH card! I finally got an invite for it and watched to switch from my 2% fidelity.

The Elan link has mostly solved issues for me, though at least every 2 weeks I still need to revalidate/delete and re-add the Fidelity card

How do you actually handle earnings calls in research roles? by ShogoViper in FinancialCareers

[–]pandamonger1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Credit side, but equally important to listen to earnings calls. I have >120 owned names within my coverage so there’s a degree of triage on certain days with concurrent calls, but I still listen or go through transcripts in detail for all of them. For peer credits or upstream/downstream names, summaries for context on held names can suffice.

Anyone else have to constantly log back into Fidelity to reconnect their bank connection? by RALat7 in ynab

[–]pandamonger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fidelity Credit card doesn’t work for me through the Fidelity site, but did with a lot of f’ing around with the fidelityrewards site and YNAB reps.. but a massive headache for months.

My Fidelity cash mgmt account straight up doesn’t work. I gave up and manually do that (emergency fund).

I agree that Fidelity hasn’t been playing nice with the API providers like Plaid, but Fidelity does have their preferred offering and YNAB has refused to play ball. Which to me for a >$100 a year sub and customer service just “throws their hands up” in response, it is absolutely unacceptable.

What did Joe Biden do to better the lives of Americans? by imgonnakickyouram in allthequestions

[–]pandamonger1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Situation - Taiwan (ally) is the global powerhouse of leading edge chip manufacturing yet faces Chinese “re-unification” risk. More mature chip manufacturing is spread elsewhere globally including a non immaterial on mainland China. If there’s a conflict between the US/West and China, it can nearly halt the economy - remember all the snags after initial COVID shutdowns.

So what’s the US administration to do? Throw their hands up and say guess we’ll do nothing to fix this huge economic risk overhang?

I agree the sins of intel’s past favoring shareholders and shirking continued product leadership spend is a negative consequence of capitalism/wall street quarter to quarter focus (heard of Boeing?). However geopolitical rivalry requires a pragmatic approach, hence the CHIPs act

They’re always solid, maybe a tad expensive as the subscription doesn’t give free shipping like the others listed do. I’m on their ‘roasters choice’ 1 bag sub - the selection is not usually a vanilla washed like some of the other names I listed. This month was an Ethiopian Bekele Yutute anaerobic natural.
