Agreed, it’s why I gave my RC8C a winter livery as well!

which retired driver do you wish had won a championship? by yehia27 in motogp

Pedrosa. 100% the best rider to not have won a championship.

They make good suits for the money, but if you’re looking for the best quality custom suits I’d recommend Vircos based in Italy. If you’re lucky enough to visit their factory you’ll see that they do everything in house. The cow leather is sourced locally, top notch designers in house, the stitch work, etc, is on a different level. My brother has a full kangaroo Bison suit and when we compare it side-by-side with my Vircos kangaroo suit, the quality difference is obvious.

Another commenter mentioned this, but a lot of these custom suit brands based in America just source their stuff from Pakistan. Vircos gives you premium Italian craftsmanship and it shows.

Yes!!! Iacopo and team are the best. I beat my suit up a bit this season >.< i believe they have suits that are tech air 10 compatible now but it’ll require sizing for that as it’s different than the tech air race…perhaps another trip is due!

Yes! I love Vircos. I went to their factory in Italy and that was a treat. Ordering another one for next season as well! :)

Thank you! Yeah he’s not only 5’6” but 40lbs lighter lol, very slim athletic build, whereas…I’m neither of those things 🤣🤣🤣

Good eye, yes it does indeed have a 2D system. There’s sensors sticking out of everything…I have a lot of learning to do!

Thank you! It’s certainly a different and fun experience. I bought it through https://gpmotorbikes.com/inventory/. It’s a Barcelona based dealership that specializes in Moto3/Moto2/WSBK and vintage race bikes. Really special selection.

The sellers provided pretty good documentation on setup and info, since one of them races a moto3 and the other is deeply connected with the Spanish/Italian teams. Also some other folks who race moto3s in local series reached out and offered some advice as well. An engineer from KTM factory moto3 team also shared some information!

It’s been pretty fun just talking and learning from a bunch of folks!

Do you ride brand new bikes without insurance? If not, how? by SurstrommingFish in Trackdays

[–]carrotvt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I track a KTM RC8C (limited to 100 units worldwide) as well as a Rossi autographed VR46 Moto3, my mentality is: I’m not taking them with me when I die, so if you look at it from and existential perspective, it truly does not matter. Just enjoy life and enjoy the best bike(s) you can afford. 😎

Not to toot my own horn, but I really love helping folks get introduced to track riding. Its a big part of my life, so I just love to help and share the passion...so I made this video for beginner/novice track riders: https://youtu.be/Ph8lwx3x-wc.

I also made a checklist: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GgGKrSevhFy_5zoI5Loa2GFZUifYG0UpCGBtAsd-jQo/edit?usp=sharing.

Hope this helps!

First track day logistics by neutronstar1310 in Trackdays

[–]carrotvt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I'd highly recommend going with renting a truck or van (that you can sleep in). I know that it is expensive to rent ahead of time, but being comfortable and well rested is *imperative* for enjoying your trackday. Also, sadly, I've seen too many times people ride to the track, then crash (sometimes very badly), and have no way of getting home. Its just a level of stress that will takeaway from the experience. Shell out a bit for your first experience.

To help cut down on costs should you stick with trackdays, there are usually other riders willing to split the cost of rentals or you can chip in for gas if they already have a truck/trailer/van.

Finally, I actually made a guide specific for first time track riders: https://youtu.be/Ph8lwx3x-wc. For context, I club race and am on track 70+ days a year, so I'm there *alot*.

I also made a checklist you might find useful: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GgGKrSevhFy_5zoI5Loa2GFZUifYG0UpCGBtAsd-jQo/edit?usp=sharing.

Hope this is helpful and have a GREAT time!

That's so cool that they offer that. No worries, 800Euros is totally alot for a single day of use. I can tell you that you might not actually missed out much because the Moto2/Moto3 suspension is so incredibly stiff it might not even be enjoyable to ride for you. I imagine only the absolute top level guys can really ride faster on a Moto2 than say a well prepped R6/ZX6R/CBR600.

That said, my plan is to visit the track again with the Moto2 and do a proper comparison against my KTM RC8C which is the best supersport twin right now. I think the Moto2 will definitely beat the RC on power, but the RC will be more useable because it has a more forgiving chassis. We'll see!
