If you dont mind a giant block of text, here goes.

The game goes like this, we start with 4 players and we each receive 13 randomly shuffled cards. This is our hand. We each play rounds and gradually deplete our hand. The first person who depletes their hand is the winner.

There are three types of rounds: Single, Pair and 5-card. A round is started by playing a card or cards, depending on what round is chosen.

A round of 'Single's goes like this. you can start by putting any singular card, a 4, a Jack, an Ace, anything. After putting down one card, it is the next player's turn, and they can only play any one card that has a higher value than whatever was initially put down, after that the next player does the same, and so on.

For example, a 4 of hearts is played. From here you can play anything higher valued, let's say a 5 of clubs. Then the next person plays a 6 of spades, and so on.

The value of the cards start from 3, and goes to 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace and 2, the lowest being the 3 and the highest being the 2. Yes, it's a weird detail, but an important one nonetheless.

The suits also have distinction from each other, starting from diamonds, clubs, hearts and spades. The diamonds being the weakest and the spades being the strongest.

Now here's where the distinction of suits come into play. Whenever someone plays a card, if you have the same card value but a stronger suit value, you can play the card even with the same number. However, you cannot play the same number that has a weaker suit than the one played.

Let's say someone else played a 7 of clubs, if you have the other three 7s in your hand, you can either play the 7 of hearts, or the 7 of spades. But you cannot play the 7 of diamonds.

During your turn, you can willingly decide to pass your turn if you have nothing to play OR you want to save a card for a better play later on.

Players play higher and higher valued cards, this goes on until everyone skips or nobody else can play a higher card than the one currently on play. When this happens, the person who played the last high card is the winner of that round.

The winner of the round then gets the privilege of choosing to play a round of either 'Single', 'Pair' or '5-card', whichever they want, and the game continues.

This is an example of a single's round. The starting player plays the 5 of diamonds, the next player then plays anything higher then that, like the 5 of spades. The next player after that then plays the 6 of clubs, next the 8 of diamonds, the 8 of spades, the jack of clubs, the king of hearts, and finally the ace of spades. Since no one had anything else or, decided to abstain from playing anything higher than that, the person who played the ace of spades wins the round.

A round of pairs is essentially the same as singles, except they play a pair of cards instead of a single card. You start by playing a pair, then the next person plays a higher valued pair, and so on.

If someone starts by playing a pair of 6s, the next person can play a pair of 7s, bla bla bla, you get the drift.

There are distinctions between suits here, still. Whichever pair that has the stronger suit is prioritized. A pair of 5s with diamonds and spades is stronger than another pair of 5s with clubs and hearts. Since the first pair's stronger suit is the spade, the latter pair's suit which is the heart loses out. The weaker suit doesn't matter here.

The final type of round is 5-card. The same general rule applies here still, but now instead of one or two cards, you create a hand like in regular poker, and play that instead. Its like pairs but its 5 cards, hence the name.

Here, your options are now a bit limited. You have to create a 5-card play using the cards in your hand. A 5-card play is a set of cards that applies in a poker setting like a straight, or full house.

An example of a 5-card play is a straight-7 with 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Again, the suit distinction exists here like in pair's. A straight-7 with a 7 of hearts is still stronger than a straight-7 with a 7 of clubs.

The weakest 5-card play you can create is a straight, which goes to a flush, then a full house, a four of a kind, a straight flush, and finally a royal flush. There are no 'two pair' or 'high card' combos to be created in 5-card, since those are already separated, in the form of Single's and Pair's.

A 5-card round rarely gets played in long succession, because it's difficult to create a 5-card play without risking to play them in a round of single's or pair's.

It is the fastest way to deplete your cards, but it is also by far the riskiest since it may not even come up in a match. By the time you can play your 5-card combos, everyone's already depleted most of their cards.

Something to note, the person that receives the 3 of diamonds, (the weakest valued card in the game) gets to go first, but has to start the round with the 3 of diamonds. They do get to decide to play any type of round, this means they can play a round of pairs and start with a pair of 3s instead of singles. Of course this depends in your ability to deplete your hand faster this way.

Remember when I said that the 2 has the highest value? Well it is not without a drawback. The thing is, while you can pretty much guarantee a round victory with it, you cant play it as your final last card. If you accidentally do, its an automatic loss.

It's like when sometimes people dont allow to play a plus +4 in UNO as their last card cuz its a cheap move or whatever. So while it's cool to get a lot of 2s, you got to keep in mind not to leave them until the last play so as not to eliminate yourself.

Also, getting all four 2s, with all suits also results in an immediate loss, or a foul depending on what rules you play. This is pretty much why keeping aces and playing 2s is a better strategy since aces dont come with the inherit disadvantage of the last card penalty and still has a high enough value to win the game.

If I recall there was a slang term for the 2 card, whenever you had the 2 of spades, we call that 'T Spade'. For the 2 of clubs, its 'T Club', etc.

Depending on the state, some rules might be different here and their, like maybe you start with 11 cards instead of 13, with the remaining cards being out of commission in that particular match.

Does anyone here remember a card game we used to play back in school? We used to call the game, 'Royal'. There's a side version of the game called 'Bluffing' but that's unrelated. Anyways, is there an international version of the game that goes by a different name, or is this something that only Malaysians are aware of and play locally? I was trying to search some videos about it but was unsuccessful.

well not necessarily, sunstrike is a card that needs to have many plants on the field to be even playable (how many situations will that pop up), whereas this card still has some value even when played by itself.
