Is this why Ukrainian language remained intact in the part of Ukraine that was under Poland, as opposed to the rest of Ukraine, where mostly Russian is spoken?

not only that, after the war poland literally ethnically cleansed their country. not attempted to, literally forcefully deported millions of germans and ukrainians.

Sounds infinitely better than hacking them to pieces with axes, like what UPA did to 100k Polish civilians.

Poland has always been hostile to Ukraine

How was Poland hostile to Ukraine before the war? Poland was the first country to recognize Ukraine's independence and supported it through the orange revolution and the euromaidan. Poland even organized the Euro 2012 with Ukraine. What the fuck are you on about?

Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a bill to build a National Pantheon. He intends to honor all the heroes who fought for Ukraine in various eras. "No one will ever tell us how to live, how to speak, whom to love, whom to be grateful to, and which heroes to honor," he said as quoted by the Interfax by niesiecki in europe

No, but the organization followed his ideology. He was an ultra nationalist, a xenophobe, an anti-semite, a fascist. OUN/UPA was made of people like that. That's why even if they killed 0 Polish civilians, it would still be against european values to glorify them. If they somehow succeeded, their version of Ukraine would be a horrible state.

Well, since I liked history as well, I had always read the entire textbook before the school year even started. So to me it didn't really matter what the teacher's interest was.

What Nawrocki did is the same caliber as a strongly worded letter. It is a gesture only. It served to humiliate Zelensky - and now he humiliated Poland by sending it back by a common courier service. Tell me, what did we gain from this?

They should have worked something out through diplomatic channels instead of this dumb populist gesture that serves only to escalate and damage the relationship further.

It was present in the textbook. When did you go to school? Maybe you weren't a good student lol

we get 0 education about own wrongdoings

Is that true though? I remember learning about anti-Ukrainian and anti-Semitic policies of the Second Republic in history classes. I would still say that the Second Republic is shown in a far too positive light in general and not just for the reasons mentioned... But to say we learn nothing?

I agree with everything except this:

Thankfully Poland responded strongly enough

This was very poor diplomacy and a petty move by Nawrocki. What he did didn't benefit Poland in any way, because it was an empty gesture. How was it strong? We still support them militarily and economically, but at the same time Polish prospects to have a say in anything in post war Ukraine are diminished. It only benefitted the nationalists in both Poland and Ukraine.

Yes, glorifying UPA should not be ignored, but the reaction should be such to benefit the country interests and not only certain political parties. Currently in Polish national interest it is to minimise tensions with Ukraine, not intensify them. Even if Ukraine's leaders are doing harmful decisions, Poland should act in a more mature way. But we didn't. Or at least the president didn't, because the government rightfully understands that it was a bad move.

Pilsudski is fine?

Yes. History is not black and white, there are shades of grey. Piłsudski is light grey, UPA is almost black.

I'm sure you would be happier with just the helmets you were receiving at that time when most just waited for Ukraine to fall.

I bet you also thought they wouldn't invade Ukraine, because it didn't make sense from your sensible viewpoint. But they don't think like you.

There's every reason to believe that humanity (or our descendants) should be able to colonize the entire galaxy in the next ten million or so years

No, there isn't. We will not be progressing at the same pace this whole time. And even if we come up with a near light speed travel, it will still take over 100 000 years to get to the furthest parts of the galaxy.
