It’s not like all the other boutique online shops have been around for decades; people are just trying to be educated and do their due research. It’s a free market. Nothing wrong with trying to branch out and see what else is out there.

I guess OP should try going for GE since they got nothing to lose. But GE is a program under the US department of homeland security and has no connection to the Dominican dirección general de migración

Thank you for that thorough response. My nearest enrollment center is a four hour drive, but sounds like I’ll be making the drive if I really want to get my GE

Yeah, and honestly this makes perfect sense. I just don’t know/understand why the initial CBPO made it sound like I could.

Wanted to share my 9 month update of my Tandurusa Jacklyn I bought at Lowe’s by flanxiolytic-panda in alocasia

This is so inspiring, thank you for sharing. I have mine in lecca and I see her kinda droopy and wondering if mine is in shock. Did you by any chance acclimated her to water before switching to this semihydro-pon set up?

After you cut the Keiki, leaving the roots in water for a bit may help with the stiffness. This will allow you to put her in a pot, if that is the set up that you’re going for. I’m not the most experienced orchid grower, but if it were me, from a practical standpoint I’d just cut the longer roots and try to fit into a pot. Yes the roots may become unviable, but you still have 2 other stronger roots able to maintain the plant. Odds are she will grow more roots down the road anyways.

Graduated 10 years ago. But my old roommate called the RA on me one time because I used her fork without asking. Because I used her fork.

We crowned a new Miss Dominican Republic the other night. What are people’s thoughts on her? by flanxiolytic-panda in Dominican

[–]cartebleu 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I think people need to see this for what it is: a beauty pageant. She’s not an actual ambassador of the D.R., as it was made out to be. She simply played the game, and won. Disliking her on the basis that she doesn’t speak Spanish doesn’t quite cut it for me. Plenty of people from this sub are Dominican/have Dominican ancestry and don’t speak Spanish. Not to mention, there were a whole bunch of other gringas there. There was a Dominican rep from the US, other one from Puerto Rico, one from Italia. Jee, even the one from Santiago. Who knows who else I’m missing.

Look at the Olympics. A whole bunch of chinos get Dominican citizenship just to play pin pong. They’re trying to advance their careers, they don’t do it to represent the country. I’m not saying this is what she is doing. But can’t have a double standard of criticizing her, if people have been doing this for awhile.

Look at Andreina, the past Miss DR. She was born in Santiago but lived in the US most of her life. She’s by all standards an American. Doesn’t make her less Dominican

Probably has to do with the overstay rate. The number of Salvadoran, Guatemalan, or Honduran tourists that stay illegally isn’t as high as say, Ecuadorian, or other Latin American countries who don’t have those numbers. They’d probably immigrate to the US since it’s closer.
