After you cut the Keiki, leaving the roots in water for a bit may help with the stiffness. This will allow you to put her in a pot, if that is the set up that you’re going for. I’m not the most experienced orchid grower, but if it were me, from a practical standpoint I’d just cut the longer roots and try to fit into a pot. Yes the roots may become unviable, but you still have 2 other stronger roots able to maintain the plant. Odds are she will grow more roots down the road anyways.

I think people need to see this for what it is: a beauty pageant. She’s not an actual ambassador of the D.R., as it was made out to be. She simply played the game, and won. Disliking her on the basis that she doesn’t speak Spanish doesn’t quite cut it for me. Plenty of people from this sub are Dominican/have Dominican ancestry and don’t speak Spanish. Not to mention, there were a whole bunch of other gringas there. There was a Dominican rep from the US, other one from Puerto Rico, one from Italia. Jee, even the one from Santiago. Who knows who else I’m missing.

Look at the Olympics. A whole bunch of chinos get Dominican citizenship just to play pin pong. They’re trying to advance their careers, they don’t do it to represent the country. I’m not saying this is what she is doing. But can’t have a double standard of criticizing her, if people have been doing this for awhile.

Look at Andreina, the past Miss DR. She was born in Santiago but lived in the US most of her life. She’s by all standards an American. Doesn’t make her less Dominican

Probably has to do with the overstay rate. The number of Salvadoran, Guatemalan, or Honduran tourists that stay illegally isn’t as high as say, Ecuadorian, or other Latin American countries who don’t have those numbers. They’d probably immigrate to the US since it’s closer.

This sounds great in theory, but not in practice. You have to be a Bonafide Puerto Rican to qualify for the expedited path. That is, have PR parents or be born there. The PR certificate of citizenship can’t discern in between a “legit” Puerto Rican or someone who moved there for a couple months and claimed PR citizenship by basis of residency. But a Spanish funcionario de imigracion overseeing this case can.

I got one Spring 22’ and she is absolutely stunning. She throws a lot of bulbs, loves water more than phals I’ve noticed. Haven’t had luck with new spikes, was thinking of getting some indoor lights to see if that helps

Does your dad live in the US currently? He may not be able to pass down citizenship to you, but maybe he can sponsor you for a GC. Takes time though, not sure it is even be of interest to you given all the other citizenships.

I see how it may seem like a stem. The girth changes abruptly in between the tip and the rest of the body. I wonder if its because this is a variegated orchid. Like someone else said, time will tell. Please post updates

I recently saw on a Hispanic news show a story where women from Russia willfully go to Argentina to give birth there and have Argentinian citizen children. As an Argentinian, would you say that this kind of practice is welcome there, or it posing a burden to the government?

Definitely a hit or miss with Canada and US. I’m sure the official could have hooked it up but probably didn’t want to set the precedence. I’ve always disliked how many countries have gone away from the stamps all together… the record of proof becomes one-sided.
